Old Man Emu lift kit fitment to Suzuki Jimny Gen.4 - Part 1 - Front Axle

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

I have fitted many 4x4 lift kits over the years, most of the leaf spring variety though I have found coil spring kits often easier to fit (sometimes!).
The standard height Jimny just doesn't have the ground clearance or tyres to cope with some of the terrain we have planned on the Monkey bike ride across New Zealand. In order to upgrade the tyres to 235/75R15 All Terrains this lift kit needs to be installed to provide sufficient clearance between the bodywork & tyres.
With the number of Suzuki Jimny Gen 4 vehicles been purchased & the with this been a very common modification I'm hoping this mini-series of videos will be super helpful to anyone planning this work - especially given Old Man Emu, one of the premium suspension upgrade manufacturers, didn't supply any fitting instructions for the springs or shocks - though instructions were supplied for the anxilliary components to the overall kit.
I'm planning a follow up video post 6.000km road test (Monkey ride adventure) to provide feedback on the kit, how it performed & it's affects on the vehicle's on-road handling - an important factor when considering a suspension upgrade.
Enjoy
Andy

Great video. Thank you for sharing. I think I have a wrong installation. I wrote ARB, no answer. The Jimny is lower at the rear and the shocks are touching the panhard. Any ideas about how to identify if who installed the kit put the rear springs and shocks in the rear and not in the front, and vice-versa?

I'm just curious. I bought the same kit from OME, with the front springs rated capable of handling a winch and bar extra weight (according to the OME application catalogue). However, the question is: Did you upgrade the front Panhard rod, or are you good with the stock one?

No, we haven't replaced that yet, seems to be fine. Winch & bumper isn't yet fitted, still saving up! Cheers Andy

Great video guys. Just a quick one. Why would you prefer to take prop shaft off rather than cross member? Surely that's less hassle?

Ironman GVM upgrade increases GVM by 350kg. Tough Dog have a kit that does the same. OME does not increase GVM.
