Wow, this is all over the place! Love the flashed photo of a "Falcon" during the Maverick section. Most N. Americans would not recognised it as an Aussie XB Falcon GT. And the North Am Granada being confused with the European Granada. And then there's the 78 Fairmont apparently replacing the Falcon! What?!, 8 years later? Or did you mean the Aussie Falcon (which would also be wrong). Jeez Louise, did you sub-contract this video out to a Mumbai call centre?

RE: Mustang SVO, the one to own was the 1986, by which time the output grew to 200 horsepower, and it was the only year with composite headlights. People don't get that car, it's way more nimble and track oriented than the GT, and it could accelerate just as quickly by 1986. Ford was trying to market it as the better, more fuel efficient way to make 200 horsepower, at a time when gas was $.89/gallon in the USA .

Yes. They were on par with a GT, but give me 30 min...literally and I can make a GT go from 14.5 to a flat 14.0. The timing was terribly retarded in those cars, and also the air intake not made correctly with weird baffles in it as well.

I worked as an engineer for Ford at the time, and the Probe was supposed to replace the Mustang, but the die-hard Mustang fans rallied Dearborn to not go through with it. I saw the SVO as corporate's response to the overall trend for getting away from V8's and trying to develop performance from 4 cylinder engines. Of course, the GT took off, especially with their "The Boss is Back" advertising, basically killing a performance 4 cyl Mustang. I always admired the SVO and wondered what could have been had they stuck with it as an option. I definitely loved the disc brakes all around and the suspension. I had an '84.5 GT (the half year going from single exhaust to dual) and was ticked Ford still had drums in the rear.

'75 Granada coupe? What kind of Granada was pictured? Must have been a British Ford. I don't remember any Granada around here that looked like that. Pretty much all 1970s American cars were styled like the Mercedes Benz. The mid '70s Granadas did this fairly well. Both 2 door and 4 door models were very popular back then.

@@toddaulner5393 For '81-82, I think Ford was still using the 200 inline-six in their Fox-platform cars. The base engine for those years was the 2.3L OHC four, which was 'adequate' if not particularly thrilling. The 200 had a fair amount of pep and was a very simple and reliable engine, and there was an optional 255 V8 (complete turd of an engine...). I'm pretty sure you could still get a 302 in 81 but it wasn't a well-advertised thing (might have been a 'police' option). The 3.8 V6 showed up in the Fox-platform cars in '83 after they discontinued the 200 six-cylinder.

What happens when you use AI to generate videos: 3:15 "Lee Eya - cock-a" 4:30 -- lots of irrelevant information about Edsel, nothing to do with it being "forgotten" or "worth forgetting" -- more typical of an AI search on keyword "Edsel" 4:37 -- some auto factory that is NOT producing Edsels, and apparently early to mid 1960s, well after the Edsel was being built 5:25 Seems to have no idea the US and European Ford Granadas were two separate cars with the same name. 7:45 "Ford Fairmont in 1978, the replacement for the Ford Falcon" 1 The Fairmont replaced the Ford Maverick, not the Ford Falcon 2 Voiceover comes hilariously after showing a 1962 Ford Falcon 3 The US Ford Falcon's last year built was 1969, with the nameplate being used through the end of 1969, as 1970 models. Ford Australia had something called a Falcon, all the way through 2016 7:50 "lightweight unit body construction, mostly forgotten today" Unit body construction is near-universal in cars in 2024. 10:22 "Ford EXP was so good looking...." Pretty universally the EXP's dopey hooded headlights made it regarded as unattractive and weird 10:12 "Designed to compete with the Pontiac Fiero, Honda CRX, Toyota MR2" Fiero was introduced in 1984, CRX and MR2 around 1986 -- well after the 1982 EXP intro.

I've spent some time reading about the reasons that the 57 Fords were less common than the 57 Chevy even though Ford outsold Chevy in 1957. My understanding was that their V8 engines had a lot to do with it. The 57 Chevy was often powered by Chevy's original "small block" V8 which remained in production for decades and is still available from GM as a crate motor. It was easy to find a reasonably healthy small block Chevy in any junk yard when the engine in a 57 Chevy died. The 57 Ford still used the Y-Block as its only V8 motor. This engine was removed from automotive use in 1962, and was retired from truck use in 1964. There came a time when the owner of an old 57 Ford had the choice of rebuilding the obsolete Y-Block, or swapping in a different motor. It was easier to keep Tri 5 Chevies going than Fords from the same timeframe. I hadn't heard that the 57 Ford had body problems, that would have been a contributing factor.

Among other mistakes, the Fairmont was NOT a replacement for the Falcon. The Falcon as a nameplate, died a number of years before Fairmont (which space was taken in the lineup by the Maverick, btw), and certainly not a replacement for the pictured Falcon, which it’s generation ended in 1969, a long time from Fairmont’s 1978 introduction.

Between an '86 GT and '86 SVO, starting stock for stock, gimme 60 seconds to pull one hose and take a tiny drill bit to the bleeder tee for the turbo waste gate, allowing it to boost to 18psi, then watch the GT get trounced hard.

It was very different from what the US was used to. Some people thought it looked like a woman's... erm, 'intimate bits'. But the radical styling was only ONE problem Edsel faced. The car rolled out in the midst of a recession (bad time to introduce a high-priced model!), and the 1958s were plagued with QA problems. Ford spent HIDEOUS amounts of money to bring the Edsel to market. Edsel damned near bankrupted Ford; if the Falcon had not sold as well as it did, and if the Mustang had not been the success it was, Ford would probably not have survived the 1960s.

Re: the Ford EXP. The EXP came out in 1982 as a commuter because of gas prices. It was "sporty" car not a sports car. It was the 1st one out so it didn't compete with the other others. Fiero came out late 1983. CRX came out in 1983 also Toyota Mr2 was 1984 or 85 I can't find exact date. As for 0-60mph the EXP wasn't the quickest but it also wasn't the slowest. That honor goes to the Mr2 @ 9.7sec EXP was 9.0sec Fiero was 8.8sec CRX hit 60mph in 7.2sec All this took me about 10min to research so what's your excuse. You said at the beginning that your videos were not getting promoted/pushed well from what I can tell (and see from all the comments) is your information is more wrong than getting anything correct and, at least for me, there were a ton of ads. So no go for me. I try to support smaller channels but not this time. Blocking

Man i think i lost my heart to crestline skyliner...its wickely beautiful!😍🤩... But that plexi glass would have worked splendid with Packard cars..their dash were studded with beautiful knobs, meters and quirks... Not to forget those lil cute mini trucks...in mini trucks chevy LUV is the the prettiest.. But i must say regarding stuffed dash, ford dashes are the boredom, just straight forward things here and there...nothing fancy..

Didn't realize the 1982 EXP was made to compete with the 1984 Fiero and 1984 CRX. Sounds like the other way around. The bubbleback EXP of 85/86 should have gotten a better, more powerful engine to go with it's updated look. Then it would have stood a chance. When it was crossbred as the Escort/EXP it looked like a bloated caricature of it's original form.

They have the wrong video for the Granada. Maybe there was a European Granada, but the Granada they are talking about was not as presented here. They were quite nicer and better looking, and more expensive than the maverick. The EXP was like a two seater escort. They were awful.

If this video is trying to be historically accurate, and specifically about Ford Motor Co., then Fox "body" should NEVER be used. Ford has NEVER in its history used the term "body" for its programs, that is a GM term and also used by Chrysler. Never Ford. Never. Ford makes "platforms" (underbody) and "tophats" (upper body). So the 1979 Mustang is most accurately a Mustang tophat on a shortened Fox platform.

Sigh... this vid could have been good. The SVO is not the first car ford made with 4 wheel disks. The 1977 through 1980 Lincoln Versailles had a ford 9 inch rear end with factory disk brakes. I bought a wrecked one to steal the suspension and brakes from to upgrade a 1968 Mustang fastback. Everything bolts right in.
