Welcome to today's video, this time we have a beautiful cast iron hand grinder from Enterprise Manufacturing Company that was destroyed in transit.
The owner of this mill wanted to preserve the original condition as much as possible.
The mill is from the end of the 19th century and was manufactured by the American company Enterprise Manufacturing Company in the state of Pennsylvania.
The company was founded in 1864 and operated until 1956 when it was bought by the Silex company.
The company produced a large number of different grinders in different sizes and for grinding different raw materials such as coffee, corn, shells, bones, meat and others.
The grinder is 30 cm high, has two large wheels with a diameter of 22 cm with spokes resembling petals. One wheel is equipped with a wooden handle.
A cast-iron body is placed between the wheels, the upper part of which is a hopper, in the middle part there is a hinge, and when opened, the grinding mechanism is revealed, which is attached to the axis between the wheels.
In the lower part there is a drawer for the ground raw material.

As a small child my mom would send me and my big sister through the woods to this little ole store by an old dirt road to get her coffee and bread. It was run by a old couple who owned it for years, the woman made her own bread for customers, I remember her having one of those machine sitting on the countertop, and the smell of warm bread and the coffee grinding always smelled so good to me. Your beautiful restoration brought back a wonderful memory I had almost forgotten thank you! :)

Amazing how you welded that broken cast iron wheel on that coffee mill and got the whole unit working right again. It looks much better and it works like a charm too. Excellent work.

Thank you Harry, the current owner was at our place after unpacking the package that was sent, he was quite surprised. The carrier distinguished himself. Since a complaint abroad is quite complicated, we chose the repair route.

Danke Thomas. Nicht jedes Gusseisen funktioniert so, etwa 80 Prozent von dem, was ich in die Finger bekam, ließen sich so schweißen.

Was wondering if not puttying and smoothing the uneven cast metal was a mistake, but the way you used that along with the weathered paint effect to give it that patina is just perfect. Bravo!

I'm glad David. For the most part, I can weld cast iron because of this, but when it contains a lot of carbon, it doesn't work that way. Fortunately, this is the case for about ten percent. Thank you David for watching, greetings from the Czech Republic :)

Привет из Петербурга! С начала, если честно, я подумал, что реставрация будет в этот раз немного скучноватой. НО! Радек, как Вы оформили большие колёса -это было великолепно. Ну а за нанесение шпатлёвки с помощью губки - отдельное спасибо! Я сам бы не догадался. А в конце, мне кажется, я даже почувствовал запах кофе. Браво!

I looked it up because I wanted to know more about this particular grinder and the fact that it would never have been made in White! So whoever tried to restore really botched that one up badly. Your restoration was not only on point it paid absolute attention to the finest of details and I loved watching it! Thanks!!!
