Foley artist still is such a impressingly creative profession. They really need a deep understanding of noises and sounds, and lots of imagination about what something will sound like after some processing. And they absolutely can make the difference!

We salute to them 😊. It's to hard to make sound effect like this and entertains us.

I remember not being able to sleep and waking up in the middle of the night to watch these old time classics by the fire.

Considering how long humanity has roamed the Earth, it is practically impossible to produce unique content because most things have already been thought of and produced. However, people build upon what exists in all industries to bring innovation which ultimately makes them creative. And as for your question, I'm a musical artist and game developer, so I technically come up with new things every single day.

Disney was a lot of fun back then. They used to play dozens of really old cartoons every day. I loved the Goofy cartoons where someone would narrate stuff and he'd mostly fail. Like, workouts, driver's education, etc. Disney is garbage today and shelves all that terrific content. I'm sure they long since cancelled George Plimpton and Mousterpiece Theater.

I remember these cartoons from school, they would play them on worn-out VHS cassettes on an aging CRT with some burn-in whenever a class was canceled or something. Childhood memories!

its a penny or dime in a balloon. spin it just right the penny will roll around the baloon making that sound

I like how every sound effect pretty much is what it is like the croaking of the frogs being the sound of their vocal cords and the sound effect is being produced by something similar to a vocal cord and with a thunder and lightening, something rolling and something very tall creating the sound

They are called Foley artists if anyone is interested about learning more.

I find this incredibly fascinating!

I just literally cried for the old man coz my grandpa's brother recently passed away , from then I just cry watching any old man or woman

I always love the way early movie sound effects are generated through mundane objects like the blaster sounds in Star Wars made by striking a high tension wire with a hammer, I think that's probably what made the "ka-peew!" that Han Solo's DL-44 makes.

Do you know the origin of the light saber sound? This was where a microphone came close to another object, i think it was a monitor or something, and randomly recorded that buzzing sound, that was nothing more than a interference, that was later used for the light sabers.

Anyone who can still do that today is an artist. Unfortunately, sound effects are easy to generate on a computer. The song by the Monkeys - Daydream believer is also interesting when it comes to interpreting an incoming train with instruments 😀

Yeah, this is the sfx team. Also, they don't do it like this anymore. Now they have digital libraries of sounds and use those instead.

Back then, I always went to my grandma's and grandpa's house, and they had a whole collection of classic cartoon video tapes, and Mickey's Trailer was my favorite.

Fun fact for those of us who got this recommended in 2020: that sheet of metal at the end is where the english phrase “stealing my thunder” came from. Some english dramatist invented the use of banging a sheet of metal to create thunder sounds. He used it in a play that got pulled from the theater shortly after its debut. He was butthurt about the mixed reception and he later attended a performance of macbeth in the same theater...and he heard his thunder sheet being used in the play. Some cheeky bastard stole his thunder.
