I have several Raleighs - I have been a fan for 50 years. I have two 5-speed derailleur types, the rest are Sturmey-Archer 3-speed hubs. None of the Raleighs I have right now are in totally workable condition; all but one would require nothing more than a good cleaning, new tires/tubes. When I get the time...Raleighs are the King of Bicycles!

A few points, I would lubricate the chain & all fulcrum points. The the chain case front cover should turn 90 degrees so that little slide on cover @ 12 o clock position . & I would add self oiling lubricator in side the chain case, Good restoration . Cheers.

@@geraldfornshell7169during most of my restoration projects I totally lubricate all nuts bolts brackets etc strip down each section to the nut and bolt ,clean them and respray the frame some brackets for example maybe totally rusted so I make a new copy, cleaning takes the time and if I need certain replacement parts then eBay or Google have good web sites available for Raleigh vintage bicycle ,mine tend to be 1940 1960 just finishing off a 1940 Raleigh sports model 3 speed all steel let me know if you need any further assistance or information

Thanks for showing us all your hard work. I am working on a 1971 Raleigh Eighteen and all the stainless steel on the forks and crank set came up perfect. Was it really necessary to replace the original front cog with the Herons on it?

Excelente work, value your time work and creativity, plus the installation of new pieces, was great, I liked the way of the front crank 1 speed, and the made te bike look very vintage..I ride a lot my bikes and I do my own repair. I can see you have skills for that and you have tools. Good Job. Good luck...from Canadá..

Thanks Your Comment
A few points, I would lubricate the chain & all fulcrum points. The the chain case front cover should turn 90 degrees so that little slide on cover @ 12 o clock position . & I would add self oiling lubricator in side the chain case, Good restoration . Cheers.
Good work but restoration is totally different from replacement Raleigh crank plays an important role in transmission but you've replaced it.
