Oktoberfest in Munich 🍻 The Wiesn Madness | Full Documentary
Ойын-сауық
16 days of madness! Some 6.5 million people travel to the Munich Oktoberfest in Germany every year - and they all head for the beer tents! But they’re often closed due to overcrowding! The Wies’n - as it’s commonly known - is the biggest Volksfest (beer festival and travelling funfair) in the world! If you can’t have fun here - you’ve only yourself to blame!
The 2020 Oktoberfest was official cancelled due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

There are people having a normal discussion and then there is this one guy who always wants to spread hate in anyway. and its absolutely true as you see in this comment section...how should people that don’t understand a single word german watch something in german and be immersed into it? Subtitles wont do the same job and i really can’t see a problem when dubbing documentary’s what joke or meaning is lost while doing so? Your whole commentary is useless and idiotic thx

too many people, too noisy, too expensive and beer is ok, but nothing more. It is mainly a tourist thing. Much better to go to smaller festivals
This might be the greatest documentary I have ever seen! The english dubs are incredible! Well done all-around.
I served in the US Army in Germany back when there was still two of them. I got to attend 2 Oktoberfests and had a ball in each one. The thing about it is that my squadron [battalion - I served in a cavalry regiment] commander never let us take leave for the whole two weeks. This was 1983, and tensions between NATO and the Warsaw Pact were very high. Because of that, the CO didn't want half his regiment drunk off their asses 75 miles from their duty stations. The max amount of leave you could take during Fasching and Oktoberfest was 3 days. But I sure as Hell did what I could to make the most of them!

What do you mean "when there were 2"? There never were two. Are you confusing it with the added "Oide Wiesn", which is a bi-annual add-on festival, intended to be "like ye olden days"? But that was added only a few years ago. In 1983 I still lived there, and I'm quite certain I know how many Wiesn there were - unless one of us was seeing double. Which is a distinct possibility. 🤣 Or did you mean Starkbierzeit?

@@riograndedosulball248 No you won't go into school with that beer. You go to the Wiesn during your lunch break, drink it there and then return to school. That happens alot in Germany when festivals are held in cities. But even otherwise normally you won't get suspended if you were found to drink one beer or something while in school. But it is depending on the schoo, the circumstances and the teacher that catches you of course. One of my teachers once found me on the last day before the summer break with a bottle of Vodka sitting with my friends in school before classes started. We stayed awake during the night before drinking in the park (you can do that in Germany without problems). The teacher just told me I should go outside and spill it or drink it out fast before the younger students come which is reasonable. Other teachers that saw us before just smiled at us, knowing that we were celebrating the end of the school year. Alcohol really is normal for teens older than 16 years in Germany. We were all 18 btw so we didn't do something illegal by drinking that Vodka. In most schools however the consumption of alcohol during classes is forbidden. Nothing is wrong however with bringing alcohol. You can just say you want to drink it after school.
I was not quite there in 1995 but in Hamburg. Munich has The Wiesn but Hamburg has the St Pauli district and the Reeperbahn. Even there they had huge tents and beer halls. Nice

If you have never experienced it, you must. There were 12-14 "Beer Tents", each could hold approx 5000 "drunks"; sit whereever you like, everyone is friendly; drink and eat, and SING (even tho you don't speak German). I did it in 74, in a 36 hour period I downed 7 huge liters, and pissed an equal amount. Roam the fair, try different brews, enjoy.
What an all round great attitude! Much of the world would benefit a visit! Really Great event!**
A mate and I travelled from Berlin for the first weekend of Octoberfest 1978. Looking at this video, it was nowhere near as commercialised in those days. I don't remember any security staff, even though thousands attended. We stayed in the Lowenbrau tent all day, as we had good seats alongside a friendly German family. There was a large carnival parade prior to the opening of the fest on the Saturday, then it was every man for himself in a race to the beer tents. My hotel room had a massage bed, which I foolishly activated after numerous large tankards of beer. It was as if I were at sea during a force 10 gale.

Illegal or not, I have never had issues with kids stoned on weed, the problem makers are the drunks. Something about alcahol is that it makes many individuals very aggressive. Weed smokers just sit around and vegetate. I was glad when the laws changed and didn't have to haul kids in for smoking. We still have issues with the drunks. LE for over 20 years.

Octoberfest is by far the most cultured and peaceful events as far as festivals go.....I went there in 1998 and it was fantastic!.....Never have i seen less totally drunk , misbehaved and unsatisfied people!.......It could be a reference point to all the other similar festivals regarding to behaviour, management of facilities and other jobs , which comes with having that kind of event.......Really i have been visiting many concerts and events all arround Europe and never have i seen better display of cultured behaviour and management of those individuals, who doesn''t comply to general rules......Keep up the good work in OCTOBERFEST 😎🍺🍻

Imagine the chaos in the old days. Way before radios and comms
Watching videos on KZread of the Oktoberfest in past decades, it seems that even as recently as the 1980s, the crowd was older and not many were wearing traditional Bavarian costumes. It seems like a much younger crowd from all over the world now, many in Lederhosen or Dirndls, whether the wearer is from Bavaria or Australia or Japan. I think that's cool. Unfortunately for me, I'm past "young adult". I'll have to content myself with a Maß in a leafy beer garden among my peers and try not to think of the fun that I'm missing out on.
