Those routines from the past are really precious! Let's put it in another way.... after watching this years Olympics... *I was petrified!*

​@@rocco... Of course! I was sad and shocked. Artistic Gymnastics lost its artistry. I've watched the girls on the Balance Beam hopping and jumping around, just to collect points for combinations. And then I watch Oksana with her complex routine, almost 40 years ago and I am enchanted by her performance. It is so beautiful... I have no words for it. I can only stare in awe.... 💚😀

@@Boban1611 The Russians lately have been very sloppy in all their routines. They hesitate and look ill prepared all the time. Never seen that back in the day. As far as Romania goes well they don't even exist anymore.

I really don't think I have ever seen a gymnast perform better on the beam in every way! This routine is perfection and Oksana is perfection. I absolutely love her.

She was so light spirited and carefree at this Europeans in 1985. It was a pleasure to watch her performing those difficult routines and seeing her smiling genuinely.

So fluid and precise. A pleasure to watch.

The composition of the routines were also so different back then... different and special... I miss this in our days.

WHAT A "SPUNKY PERSONALITY" PERSONALLY I ALWAYS THOUGHT SHE WAS BETTER THAN SHUSHONOVA!😊🏆🥇

They were two different types of girls I guess.... I saw Oksana more as the outgoing, funny girl - who really had some serious skills, when it came to Uneven Bars (with the somersault in between the higher and lower bar), or the Balance Beam or her famous Floor routine during her 1985 appearance. Elena was more serious and she was really fantastic on each and every event. I liked both very much, but I was really anxious, when Elena stepped onto the podium..... always expecting perfection.

Yes - I agree. Oksana was much more graceful and elegant for a start!

This Euros was her best competition ever in her career. She was Never As Good As this competition again

She was so young and carefree at the Europeans in 1985. It was so easy to fall for her 💚. I am truly glad, she became the All Around World Champion in the very same year and also won the Gold Medal on Floor and with her Team. But even if she wouldn't have accomplished all these things - this Floor Exercise itself... made her immortal. She will always be remembered....

True.... but out of the top of my head I could name another gymnast. Elena Piskun from Belarus. She was such a fair and friendly gymnast - it was almost unbelievable. A joy to watch how she behaved during the competition, even if she got surpassed.

​@@luiz4430 Yes - do so please. She became Horse Vault World Champion in 1993 I think, but didn't get the recognition she deserved by the judges afterwards. She was an excellent gymnast on Vault and Floor, but was also strong on Uneven Bars and Balance Beam. A real All Around talent. If you watched her after the routines you could clearly see her gently soul and genuine ways to handle things. It was a joy to watch her. There are many competitions, when she comforted gymnasts from other countries or celebrated with them, even though she was surpassed probably. I surely have to mention, that those other gymnasts were from the former USSR and it is possible, that she trained with them up to the break-up of the Soviet Union. Maybe that's the reason, why she was so fond of them, but still.... there were many other gymnasts in the same age range, that were not acting the same friendly and caring way. Piskun was really one of a kind in that matter.... 💙

Oksana and Elena were both one of a kind. I am so happy, that they both won the World Championships back in 1985. 💚

Somehow Ricna managed to get a higher score in Finals despite not really fulfilling the requirement of a jump or leap with great amplitude. There was a lengthy judges' conference before posting her score, and I imagine that's what they were going over. Thankfully Oksana's carryover score from the AA was enough to assure her the gold medal despite scoring lower 🙌

I am also glad, that Oksana Omelianchik won the European Title back in 1985 at the Balance Beam. Hana Ricna entered the competition with several medals in her backpack from the past. She won the Silver Medal at the Balance Beam in the 1983 World Championships and in the 1984 Friendship Games respectively. I guess the judges thought, she was up to receive a Gold Medal finally.... which did not happen in the end.

She was one of the best in that time. 1985 was a spectacular year for her and her team mates.

Nope. She was 'only' the alternate gymnast in the 1988 Olympic Games. You can see her though from time to time, supporting her team mates between the routines.
