Okra is a healthy vegetable and once you have the powdered okra, to prepare the okra gumbo soup is very easy and quick to prepare and very delicious too. Give it a try and let me know how you like it. We appreciate your comments. Thanks and Enjoy! Mariette :)

Thank you for your comment. and don't worry, your English is perfectly clear. I learned this recipe from my mother in law. She called it moulah waika and served it with kisra. but now we serve it with rice. I think dry okra is the thickening agent in the okra soup. But i will try with tomato next time. I am sure it will be tasty. Thanks for your input and comment. we appreciate it. Enjoy! :) Mariette

I wish I could help you. I dry my own at home. I don't know if it is sold on the market. Try Indian or Sudanese (or other African countries) you might find it there. Good luck! if you don't find the powdered Okra use fresh okra and whisk it with a machine after it is cooked. cook the same way. It will not taste the same, but it will be near. The soup with the fresh okra is called Moulah Bamia in Sudan. Enjoy! :) Mariette

I have heard about Assida but I have never tasted it. I always thought it was some kind of flour mixed with water and cooked but you mentioned in your comment that the mixture is fermented. Do you know how? I would like to learn how to make the assida would you be kind enough to teach me? thank you. :) Mariette
