Great race Dave! the immersion is fantastic what a race!!! i think in the rain front wheel drive is easier to keep on the road the problem is that the wheels spin up to 3rd gear and that makes you lose a lot of time not easy!

I'm by no means a setup expert, but for wet setups I pull the brake bias as far towards the back as I can before the car is too unstable (this part is really crucial in FWD cars), reduce the camber, flatten the rake and soften the anti-roll bars. If those tweaks don't quite cut it, I soften the springs and add more downforce. In this particular race, I think some diff tweaks were needed, too. I don't have this particular DLC (here's to hoping it will be on sale on Black Friday) so I don't know what exact adjustments are available, but it sounds like you need less lock on coast to reduce off-throttle understeer. Diff power seemed fine, 'cause I generally would never use 1st gear in the rain in a touring car and taking the last corner in 2nd gear gave you OK traction on exit.

Yes Mister Cameron, a Front driven Car with a good diff likes a little bit of throttle in the corner. Also in iRacing.

Three things I hate in cars: drum brakes, automatic transmissions and front wheel drive. I believe the theory for wet racing setups is to back off the anti-roll bars a ways and bring the spring rates down some, too, in order to avoid "chatter." You won't have as much grip, so high stiffness and ultimate weight transfer become liabilities, not assets. Some fooling with tire pressures might give good results, as well. The water on the track will tend to keep the tires from retaining a lot of heat, so slightly higher pressures should help the tires to maintain equal contact across the contact patch. And if you've got aero, max it the hell out, especially on a twisty track without long straights. But you probably already knew all that.

Hi Dave, notice your pit window going a bit crazy at the start of the race. I had this issue also and it’s due to crew chief, it has a setting that auto resets your pit request to all off I believe so you can set it during the race. I found it very distracting it flickering away at the race start but even worse is when you pit thinking it’s set and all they do is add fuel!

I was thinking "don't think I've ever driven around Knockhill" but then I recognised the chicane. Yeah, I did, on AC ages ago. I know of only one circuit that has a more awkward chicane than that, the completely blind chicane at Anglesey Circuit.

Oh Dave I can imagine all the carnage that is going to take place when/if rain ever comes to iRacing! All through that race I was thinking you should probably been a little more careful on the throttle and doing a lot more short shifting to higher gears on corner exit to try to keep the traction. You lose traction on FWD as the weight goes to the rear away from the drive wheels. It was enjoyable to watch nonetheless so well done on the P5 finish. 👍

There were no pedal input indicators, so it was difficult to see if you tried this, Dave: how about trying to gently slide the car into corners? I'm not simracing, so I haven't been testing it myself, and I'm not quite sure if this is something that works in race cars, but in FWD rally cars the drivers would normally persuade cars into corners on slippery surfaces by turning the wheel and then pressing the brake while holding the throttle. This works basically like a very gentle handbrake-turn effect: the car should start rotating quite easily. You adjust the angle of the rotation by the right balaning act on the pedals. There's no real threat of spinning, because whenever you feel the car is overrotating, you just step of the brake and quickly add plenty of throttle -- this should straighten the car up immediately. Again, just an idea to test.

No way Webb was on mediums, anything more wet than damp and you're loosing time on slicks. Tips in driving in the rain in RF2: Max wing, you want those tires being pushed down in to the road as hard as possible. Also, as you can't push the front wheels in to the tarmac as hard under braking, you want to set your brake bias back quite bit.

While racing in the wet, take the outside line, it might seem less fast but it is actually faster because you have most grip there if you are not on wet tires. When I race in the wet I up the traction control by a bunch and really make use of trailbraking. I go slower in the beginning because i'm more cautious and finding the limits of track and car without spinning the wheels on every corner, in the end you'll really get a move on
