I love the random asides you throw in where I feel like you are really really talking straight from the heart, for example in this Vid towards the beginning the comment about Populists not understanding the moral Burden of Supreme Commanders was gold.

Excellent video. I literally love like everything you post. It has made me have a thirst for history.

My grandparents went from surviving this to living a luxurious modern life. but to my grandparents grandparents war was as natural as the weather. and never believed in a peaceful western Europe.

It’s common in the US, maybe elsewhere too idk, to call the world war 2 vets the greatest generation. I wonder what schwerpunkt can say about this? I feel like most didn’t have a choice and they just did what had to be done. They were great but we can still be great if we were put in that scenario

No doubt they were far hardier and more resourceful than we are now but there is also an underlying naivety and astounding ignorance about the wider world. Imagine being an American kid whose only conception of Africa is Tarzan and the Ringling Brothers, and you find yourself fighting the Vichy French in a land of Berbers and Coptic Christians.

@@rhodesridge my grandma is from Europe but when the Americans came to her village she had never seen a black person before and didn't know why he looked like that .

@@belstar1128 there weren’t many blacks in the US forces. They were mostly logistics units

quite modern for you my grandparents were growing up during this time .they are the last people in western Europe who had to survive really bad conditions that were normal for my more distant ancestors for all of history .lets hope it stays like this but i doubt it .
