Kung Fu Panda Movie Description:
Now known as the Dragon Warrior, Po (Chawalit Simankhongtham) protects the Valley of Peace alongside his friends and fellow kung fu masters, the Furious Five. However, a dangerous villain threatens Po's awesome new life with plans to use a secret weapon to wipe out the martial art and conquer China. In order to defeat the new enemy, Po finds he must recall his past and unlock secrets of his mysterious origins; only then will he find the strength to vanquish his foe.
Kung Fu Panda 2 is a 2011 American computer-animated martial arts comedy film produced by DreamWorks Animation and distributed by Paramount Pictures. The film is the sequel to Kung Fu Panda (2008) and the second installment in the Kung Fu Panda franchise. It was directed by Jennifer Yuh Nelson (in her feature directorial debut) and written by Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Berger. The film stars Jack Black, Angelina Jolie, Dustin Hoffman, Seth Rogen, Lucy Liu, David Cross, James Hong, and Jackie Chan reprising their character roles from the first film, with Gary Oldman, Michelle Yeoh, Danny McBride, Dennis Haysbert, Jean-Claude Van Damme, and Victor Garber voicing new characters. In the film, Po and his allies (Tigress, Monkey, Viper, Crane, and Mantis) travel to Gongmen City to stop the evil peacock Lord Shen from conquering China, while also rediscovering Po's forgotten past.
The film was released in theaters on May 26 in 2D, RealD 3D, and Digital 3D. The Rotten Tomatoes critical consensus says it "offers enough action, comedy, and visual sparkle to compensate" for its familiar plot. It grossed $665 million worldwide against its $150 million budget, becoming the highest-grossing film directed by a female director until Frozen (2013), as well as the highest-grossing film solely directed by a female director until Wonder Woman (2017). It is also the sixth highest-grossing film of 2011, and the highest-grossing animated feature film of the year. The film was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature at the 84th Academy Awards, losing to Rango. Nelson became the second woman to be nominated for the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature, after Marjane Satrapi for Persepolis (2007). A sequel, Kung Fu Panda 3, was released in January 2016.

7:14 My favorite part of this movie. Po's Dad making Tofu dessert. Why? Because in the first movie he said that in his youth he dreamed of going off to learn how to make Tofu. But he gave up on it for being a "silly dream" and not for Noodle Chefs like him. But after Po proves to him that dreams can come true he chose to follow his dream as well.

Another detail I like is how Po’s mop was put on display and is being treated as a special object despite the fact that it really is just a regular old mop. It ties back to Mr. Ping’s lesson - “to make something special you just have to believe it’s special”. The mop isn’t special on its own but the people believe it is because it belonged to Po who many believe is special because of his Dragon Warrior title.

It's amazing how this movie can make a peacock of all animals so scary. I've always considered Lord Shen the closest thing DreamWorks has to Scar, Disney's best villain. He's cold, calculating, his past directly ties in with the protagonist's, and there's so much depth to his character, plus Gary Oldman's performance is impeccable. I also love Po's struggle to find his true self and inner peace, and that "Po Finds the Truth" sequence in the panda village is so beautiful, yet so heartbreaking.

So apparently Tigress was an Orphan who was abandoned. No one would adopt her because of her immense strength. They would lock her up in a room sometimes when she had fits. It wasn't until Shifu adopted her that she found anything resembling a family.

I like how Michelle Yeoh was correct both times, Gary Oldman _was_ defeated by a warrior of black and white, but his destiny ended up in his own hands. He chose to fight Po, he led to his own demise regardless of prophecy. A lot of people thought it was too big a coincidence that Po is in _two_ prophecies, but they're missing the point. The Dragon Warrior is a once in a thousand years savior, he comes when China needs him the most to save it from the most severe threats. This is still part of the prophecy of the first, this is just how fate wove him in to the fabric of their world.

Yeah the symbolism in this film is on point. During the segway/get ready scene. It shows po and shen in black and gray, then they reverse/swap places to the ying yang symbol showing they're the same but different. Also argument could be made that shen himself was a warrior of black and white. Since he's a white peacock. He's a warrior (bested two mastered in hand to hand) and yeah he was his own undoing.

  • @billbill6094

    @billbill6094

@@theeLonelyRedPanda Great point. And one often meets his destiny on the road he takes to avoid it. He chose to interpret the prophecy as saying "a panda will kill you." In killing the pandas, he ensured that one was coming back to finish what he started, and ended up entwining his fate with the Dragon Warrior. If Shen is a warrior of black and white, the prophecy still works as he both controls his destiny and defeats himself.

Kung Fu Panda 2 is awesome. Just like Shrek 2, they took whatever people loved about the first one and made it ten times better. It takes on a very dark and mature tone, it even has some emotional moments. The action scenes are brilliantly choreographed, the story is amazing, Shen is a terrifying villain and we learn more about Po’s backstory.

I love how reviewers think that fireworks are completely innocent. They're explosives. Over 10,000 people are sent to hospital with fireworks-related injuries every year in the USA alone. It isn't that hard to make fireworks dangerous; you just aim them at a person instead of the air.

Interesting fact for mantis mating: if the male sneaks up on the female, he can jump on her back, mate with her and run away, meaning he can mate at least a second time. Another possibility is that the female may invite him over sort of saying "i may or may not eat you".

If you're interested in seeing giant pandas in person, you'll have to go to Zoo Atlanta in Georgia. As of this moment, I believe they have the last giant pandas left in the United States, but will be sent back to China within a few months. Jack Black actually went to the 100 day naming ceremony of one of the babies, and revealed that his name was Po. I think there's a video of it floating around on here still!

I can't remember their name, but someone does a deep dive into how the Kung Fu Panda series is so authentically Chinese despite being made by DreamWorks on YT. Someone else does how this movie in particular resonated with their imposter syndrome. Me, I think the Goat's lines after we see Po's memory will always be the heart of the movie. We can all choose who we want to be.

I think both 1 and 2 are great. 1 for the surprise of how good it was for the absurd elevator pitch that it is but the 2nd one is my favourite for one simple reason; the villain. Gary Oldman killed it as Shen; intimidating but also funny in a way that broke neither the slightly silly world or took away from his malevolent vibe.

I laugh every time Po says "false advertising" 😂😂 Also just because Po is the Dragon Warrior doesn't mean he's a better fighter than the 5. Tigress is the best fighter, Po can fight but his power is more inside of him than his actual strength. Who he is and believing in that is what makes him the Dragon Warrior. Only Po could master inner peace as quickly as he did, only Po could understand the Dragon Scroll & apply it. Plus come the 3rd film you'll understand him a bit more.

I'm not all that hyped for a 4th entry because I felt the series took a step back in trying to appeal to a younger audience, tho I can't say I blame them, they just want to make a profit, it's understandable, but the second felt more aimed at young and older adults that loved the first film, and grew from there.

You have such a wide range of movies and shows you’ve watched and I never get bored with your content! I watch every video all the way through and sometimes I rewatch my favorites! You’re such a good content creator and you always make my day with your reactions. I will be so honest everytime you laugh I always manage to crack too, and when you cry I always manage to tear up too. You are just the coolest to me Mel and I love every single video you make! I have barely started this video and I already know I’m gonna have fun watching your reaction. Keep up the AMAZING work man!

Shen really is a great villain, stylised, distinctive, a little unexpected being a peacock and all. Feels quite real, misguided, and too far down a dark path to let himself think about his inner conflicts. The antithesis of Po, which seems to generally be the point. I think most of their best villains represent the hero in some way, if they'd picked a different fork on the road

I remember seeing a comment on another Kung Fu Panda 2 video saying White Peacocks aren’t found I guess desirable by their species. If true Shen being a white peacock and feeling as if his parents didn’t love him was a great stylistic choice for his character. Just proves they went the extra mile instead of making him a normal peacock.

I love this movie. In a lot of ways, I really do rate it higher than the first movie because of Lord Shen as the villain... and the fact that they gave the emotional moments more time to resonate and breathe. I'm not going to lie, the emotional beats hit like a brick for me when Po is doing the whole inner peace thing, both at the end of the second act and in the finale. Even when watching reactions, it makes me tear up _every time._ Oh, and an interesting thing with Lord Shen: I'm pretty sure that when he's talking with Po right at the end there, he finally makes the decision to find what peace he can... and that he does so by letting himself die. He's the one who cuts the ropes, and when it is coming down on top of him, he doesn't run... he just closes his eyes and accepts it. After everything that he had done, and how ruled by the manic need for power and respect that he'd been driven by for his _entire_ life at that point, the only way that he could have peace was to... die. He couldn't move on from the burden of destiny that he carried, and it was the only way that he could free himself from it.

I'll always love when "kids" movies take a mature tone. Like when I saw Lion King in theaters as a little baby. Kids learn to grow and appreciate being treated like adults.

unlike most movies, where the original is always the best and the more they make the less awesome they become. Kung Fu Panda did just the opposite for me. the first one was fantastic, the second built on that and made the lore better, and they saved the best for last with #3.

This film is one of the few times I prefer a sequel to the original. This movie adds so much more to the characters it is insane. Small moments such as the callback to tofu showing the character growth of Po's dad. And the 5 especially tigress are so much better in this. Not just because you see the relationship between them and Po grown but they are given more to them. Such as tigress. I remember balling my eyes out so much during this movie just because of her. Angelina does an incredible job as well. But you see the growth and just how much tigress cares about Po and does not want him to get hurt. You see she is not this just heated, hard-headed, badass like she was in the first movie. But she has a deeper story and has moments where she breaks her walls down like when she hugs Po and says the Hardcore does understand. I just think her character depth and growth is amazing

First - 40,000 views is legit alot. Even if you're used to getting more views on most videos. Sometimes you gotta just do movies because it's something you already started, it's something you simply might enjoy watching, or a nice little handful or your subs would love to see you continue watching. It doesn't have to solely focus on crazy amounts of views and likes. Even though I understand that's important for the channel so that definitely plays a part. But I really enjoy when reaction channels are clearly here because they love film/television and they want to try as many things as possible. They're open to all movies, all shows, no matter if they will have a huge traction of likes and views. So I definitely think that's important. The early discussion about not doing well with the first Kung Fu Panda and How To Train Your Dragon just really got me thinking about that. I love your channel so I love that you react to so much! I'm in no way saying you're not a good channel or reactor. 😂 I'm a sub and love your channel. I just felt that was important to talk about. ❤ That being said, I'm SUPER surprised your How To Train Your Dragon reaction didn't do well. But I did notice the side note saying it was like one of your first reactions so it's also not surprising. If you was to release the next sequel this week even, you'd definitely see a huge difference in views and likes. Those a re huge reactions in the reaction community here. So I think your channel being so early at that time is what played into that lower count of views. But if you're unsure of the sequels, they definitely get even better than the first. They're really good.

When you asked if any trauma happened to any of us in the middle of the movie…well here’s one that sounds messed up but it took me years to accept and remember fully..when I was about 16 maybe 17 me and my girlfriend went for A trip she had her license and I just got mine about 10 days in to our trip we got in to A accident when I woke up 2 days later I didn’t remember her for about 6 years my memory of her been completely erased but I still remembered my life and family …as time went on I kept getting flashbacks and memories once I started seeing a therapist he helped me remember her and the last thing I said to her before I went unconscious was that I would live out both of our lives right after I got my memory back ..crazy how the brain works when in trauma and healing sorry about the long and sad story.
