I'm a Valvoline user and have an'03 4.7L V8 in my 4Runner, so being 20 years old and 157K miles on it and having had religious oil changes with quality oil for the past 80K miles and 10 years, I think I'll still get some of Valvoline's "Restore and Protect" and use it for awhile. Your stuck oil rings got me wondering. Thanks for your videos!

I had a 2006 Tacoma with 4.0 v-6. It ran 220000 miles before trading it off. Oil changed every 5000 (toyota recommended). I used Seafoam almost every oil change. Never had to add oil between changes. Ran as good the last day as the first. I have been looking at Hot Shot Secrets stiction eliminator. Im thinking of adding it about 100 miles before oil change, Berrymans 20 minutes before oil change and seeing how that goes. BUT Remember, this is just me talking. Please do your own research Thank you for visiting Hillbilly Garage please come back soon

@@Hillbillygarage1215 Yeah, My V8 uses no oil. So I'm probably overthinking!

I try my best to change oil every 3,000 miles or pretty close to 3,000 miles. No matter what the recommended mileage says.

I will definitely be shortening the intervals on my HEMI'S oil changes

i"m in Canada and owned a company where i"ve owned lots of trucks with all their own issues, from Fords GM"s and rams, i've owned 7 Hemi Rams with an average of over 300,000 miles not kilometers before selling them, i've NEVER had a lifter or a camshaft issue. then only differance i can see is in Canada it recomends oil changes every 5,000 kms or 3,100 miles and i stuck to that religiously, i don't know if that's the differance or not...

Bruce, I think the shorter oil change intervals are a huge factor here. Did your RAMS sit and idle much or at all?

@Hillbillygarage1215 yea, I'm a service plumber, and the trucks are either idling with the air on in the summer and the heat on in the winter. I'm also a service nut, they never go over 3,000 miles.

Well then it really seems to point more to the oil than the idle time. Or maybe excessive idle on dirty oil? Thank you for your input and thank you for visiting Hillbilly Garage hope you come back regularly

Wonder if u obseved any cylinder scuffing or observed higher oil consumption with such stuck oil rings, Thanks a lot for sharing ur knowledge its very useful.

It is certainly baffling that we were not suffering from oil consumption. Never more than 1/2 quart to a quart between changes. The cylinder walls still had some cross hatch left. It was thin but still visible. Thank you for visiting Hillbilly Garage , we look forward to you stopping by regularly.

W.Khairi, do you have a HEMI? Do you do your own maintenance and repairs?

@@Hillbillygarage1215 Actually I don't have a HEMI yet , Though I have an interest in them I find this lifter issue to be the biggest obstacle among other things. Yes I do most of the maintenance on my cars, And do diagnostic work from time to another.
