    This addition of real oils to Krita is beyond genius, executed to perfection, and for me, a HUGE leap in the whole thing, which I indeed, was _VERY MUCH_ waiting for. Immense thanks to Ramón and the Krita team. Bravo.

    I had grown frustrated with Krita a while ago because of UI problems and a lot of technical terminology I simply did not understand, but the upcoming changes in version 5 are exciting, I really can't wait to come back to it once the update is out. Even though I'm a CSP user now, I still always recommend Krita to everyone I know, and the brushes you make are wonderful and unique, I quite miss them.

And I would be happy if the texture changed its rotation along with the direction of the brush stroke. You can also add that the texture is superimposed on top of the kisit figure. Thanks

    Speaking of backups, I wish you devs try to make the settings including the brushes available in folders that are more accessible i.e. My Documents if possible. Having the settings in a hidden by default AppData folder made me tend to forget about it and it ended up getting deleted whenever I reinstalled Windows. Another thing, I don't seem to be able to backup the Canvas Input Setting and it's kind of annoying to rebind the keys such as click+drag brush resize function. Still, Krita is my go to software for digital art.

    You should remember AppData as that's the default place for applications to save their data (and it is kind of annoying whenever programms use a different default cause it leads to having to search for the anomalities when you gotta back things up). You should REALLY remember it when you transfer your programms from one system to another. If you tend to forget it maybe you can put a link to it in your documents. (Even if Krita allows a different save directory with 5, most other programms won't allow to save it anywhere else)

  • @karkovb1522

    Well yeah but Paint Tool SAI has the brushes and textures located within the installation directory. Games tend to store user's save file and mods in My Documents. The upside of having the settings file on My Documents or any other folders is that if I were to reinstall Windows it wouldn't get deleted automatically.

    You need the timeline and animation docker, which is needed for any animation. On a layer, if you make a new keyframe, there should be a light bulb next to the layer options (lock, blind layer, alpha). That is the onion skin an d with the docker you can edit how it looks.

    how to add background texture?

  • @scroptels

    @scroptels

    2 жыл бұрын

    fast way to do it is find a texture you like and have the rights to use, then drag and drop that image texture on top of your canvas, you select " open as a new layer" and krita make a new layer for you with the texture. now just make a new layer on top and paint there. the more efficient way to do it is in in the layer docker, next the the "+" icon there's an arrow, if you click on it you'll see many options, to add a texture you need to use the "Fill layer" option, this is a special tipe of layer that let's you generate gradients, effects and tilable textures, to add a texture you go to patterns and select one you like from krita's default textures, the other tabs let you modify the size of the texture, rotation and sheer. once done you close the window and make a new layer on top if you want to paint. the good thing about the second way is that you can go back and edit the pattern, even change it if you decide you don't like it, basically, it's non destructive and editable, you can even erase parts of the texture and krita will retain the information of the spots erased when you change textures.

    @@arleenlasleur I mean I would use Linux, and I have for several years been on a Linux-only laptop (Lubuntu for a while, then Arch). The issue is that I'm pretty sure there are no working drivers for the GPU on my current laptop for Linux, and there definitely aren't any for more recent versions of Windows, which is why I'm stuck with 7. I have noticed that several programs that claim to support only Windows 8.1/10 and up do still run on Windows 7, so I was wondering if that would be the case for Krita. Guess I could just attempt to install it and see for myself. I may still try some Linux distro (been wanting to test Pop!_OS for a while now) and see if I get the drivers to work, but I don't have high hopes.
