OIL PAINTING - Realistic Details, Discovering New Techniques, Wildlife Art
I share new techniques and how they've led me to a better painter in this video. Sometimes all it takes is a change in perspective to learn and improve as an artist. I also take you through my newest oil on canvas #painting which features a pintail drake.
It's so great to get back to painting some #wildlife again. As I get out to gather more reference this summer I hope to start including a lot more wildlife moving forward.

I'm so touched by just looking at this painting, it gives me motivation that I can always be better and have room to grow.
I’m someone who comes from a background of mostly drawing animals I’ve been trying to get into landscapes with painting. It’s been really hard but your videos always encourage me, thank you!
Your are an astounding artist, wow. This looks so real, absolutely incredible. "BRAVO"
Know that you have company in feeling stressed when painting. I always seem to rush just to get things covered on the under layer like I'm on a time limit. But I find the end results when I spend the time to finish worth the effort.
This is stunning. I was interested to hear you feel stressed while painting as I often do and thought it was just me. I admire your work and attention to detail and I appreciate your transparency. It's helpful to hear you explain your thought process and how you walk us through your learning curve.
As artists we never stop learning and re-discovering ourselves! Glad to see you more often here with as wonderful work as always!!
Good to know that even amazing painters like yourself feel the frustration of the creative process thanks for sharing your thoughts and skill
That was the best advice I've ever gotten on any of these 'how-to' or 'here i am' painting videos. Ty
That's a gorgeous duck. You never cease to amaze. You're such an inspiration. Its comforting to know that even you are frustrated during the process.
I'm so very grateful that you always generously share what is going through the "inside" in the process of making the paints, making the creating experiences much more relatable while giving these videos of yours much more depths. I am more of an "inpatient" person and always struggle with frustration on a daily basis, and I always cherish the moments when people are telling me: "It's all going to be alright. Take all the time you need, just to make things finally turn out the way you want them to be, no matter how long it takes!" At least, that's the message I took from your videos and I can't appreciate it even more! Thank you! ❤️
That's incredible. Love this painting. Looking forward to your others.
Thank you for your honesty about how you feel while you are painting. This is stunning
This is so incredible. I'm amazed how you create the feathers so meticulously and the water reflection.
This was immediately my most favorite painting I've seen you do. It's alive!
Thank you putting this video, and message out there, Chuck. Watching tons of techniques and approaches on the web, it’s easy for an artist to get overwhelmed and wonder if they’re following the right approach, or the right way of go about creating their work. I hope that those artist hear your message, which simply put, ‘You have to do what’s right for you. Whatever gets you to where your creative goal, and personal creative voice take you’. Take what you can from each of the many wonderful artists out there, who are offering their own experience and input. But travel your road. It’s your personal creative journey.
These one layered wet into wet paintings are incredible!
Chuck your little pintail duck is absolutely fantastic! Love it. Patsy x
Absolutely gorgeous! I really appreciate seeing how you accomplished this and the techniques you used!!
What I love more about your videos is that, like you said in another one, there's no shortcuts. I see that each texture was obtained with no trick and with a lot of hard work. Great job, keep inspiring us !
