Oil leaking on starter bolts 2003 Silverado 2500HD

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

In this video, I’m troubleshooting my oil leak. I found oil leaking from the top of my starter. With further investigation it was the crank shaft sensor located just above the starter. If you have an oil leak and you have oil dripping near the starter bolts check out this sensor. It just might be the fix.

Have the same leak, above the starter, took 2003 Tahoe to a shop and they said oil pan. Replaced oil pan gasket for $950.00 and STILL have same leak. Thanks for the video.

I have heard of them leaking from the camshaft position sensor as well but in my 15 years of owning a 5.7 litre Chevrolet LS1 V8 powered Holden VY SS Commodore I have never had then leak on me. The car is 21 years old now &: the engine has done almost 394,000 kilometres (245,000 miles) & I have replaced the front & rear main oil seals, hydraulic lifters, front & rear crankshaft oil seal carrier gaskets, oil pan gasket,etc.. So,it had been leaking from the tear main oil seal up until 7 years ago when I replaced it !

Cool! Thanks for sharing. Ran the UV fluid and it pointed me right to the starter and had me scratching my head. Had already checked the valve covers, and oil pan which were nice and dry. Now its either this o ring or the RMS. Will change out the o-ring on this sensor this week.

@@victorbeltran9344 It was the rear main seal after all. The sensor was dry. The RMS was not that bad to change. Took a weekend and used a Victor Reinz kit from O’Reily. Been nice and dry ever since.

Always use oil UV dye from auto parts store with the black light whenever you can't find exactly where the leak is

Unfortunately no. That had a small leak but it turned out to be the rear main seal most likely. I waited for a call back from a mechanic and in the mean time I tried that AT 205 reseal. Believe it or not it did the job so far. Check out my latest video on it. Thanks for watching Clinton👍🏻👍🏻

@@MrTheman18 No, just occasionally. Could be every few months. You'll notice the leak returns once and a while. Just add it when you notice leaks. If it's too big a leak, may end up replacing the seal.
