2007 Silverado 5.3 - Chasing an Oil Leak Pt 1 of 3, Replacing Crankshaft Position Sensor

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

In this video I’m chasing an oil leak in the back passenger side corner of the Oil Pan. My first thought is to replace the oil pan gasket, but I decided to see if the problem is actually the Crank Shaft Position Sensor.

You call that an oil leak!? It's not a real leak until you are adding a quart every other tank of gas! Be honest, you just wanted to show off that nice truck to all of us searching KZread for how to fix our rusty sludge coated LS.😭 That 2007 looks amazing! You have done a great job taking care of it. 😍🙌 Anyone watching this video will be jealous. Great video 👍

I replaced the sensor thinking it would fix it, but it ended up being the rear main seal. My Silverado has approximately 290,000 miles.

Did you have to relearn the crankshaft sensor when you changed it? My leak is forward of the starter and it definitely looks like the crankshaft sensor. Everything else has been replaced on mine except the sensor.

What transmission do you have? I have 2012 with the 6speed at 170321 miles and I’ve heard that they die at 150k-200k miles

I have the 4L60e. 4 speed. I have it flushed every two years regardless of miles.

I have a 2011 with the 6 speed. 194k on the clock has been tuned its whole life and never one trans issue. But I do a filter fluid change every 40-50k

Yep. It’s in Part 3. I was hoping it wasn’t the rear main seal, but with close to 300,000 miles, it should have been expected.
