Don't forget to lube the rubber gasket on the new filter with a little bit of new oil.

The oil doesn't have to be HOT when you change it. Usually I let it sit for 20-30 minutes after a good run, then you can pull the bolt out of the way...you'll get a little oil on your hands (wear a nitrile glove if you must) so just need a rag nearby, but it's not scalding at that point.

I use Castrol ACT-EVO X-TRA 4T Engine Oil 10W-40, but that is just me.

The drain bolt is on the bottom you can take the oil filter off through the front no need to take any fairings off just the cover where you put the oil in its a 20 min job if you have the tools

@loboxido 20-50 should be fine. The numbers are the viscosity (thickness) of the oil. The lower the number, the thinner (more runny) it is. When the oil is cold, it will be be towards the higher number, and when it is hot, it will be the smaller number. Though 20w-50 will work i run 10w-40 (the recommended)

Anyone knows what kind of socket it uses for the oil drain and other parts of this bike? I used to have another brand of MC and my shit doesn't fit it. Need to buy a few tools now.

He says his filter has a little "nub" on it--for a socket... It can be called a mounting surface..Or a NUT that was welded on top of the filter for ease of removal!!!

@OLDSCHOOL6239 Hey this is still VixenHunter00 I just have another account, umm the carbs are located just behind the air box. When you take the seat off you can see the big round hole under the tank, that is the air box, so when you take the tank off follow the air box and the carbs are connected to the back. Should be four round connections. If you have any questions about Katana or bike maintenance in general, I use a website called Katriders. They have a really cool and helpful community.

@shaqdaddy11 he this is Vixenhunter00 just on my other account. What do you mean by attachment? If you mean the socket number it is a 21mm. I have two tourgue wrenches though because you are not suppost to use them to take off nuts because over time it will wreck the wrench, but if you only do it this one time it would be ok.
