Yep I train , try to stick to Dutch Style but mostly box now. I'm only 6'2 205 . Im not afraid of butter nuts in a ring at all. On the street or in a pool hall or bar I'd run first that's for sure

Puede ser, y de hecho es un hombre fuera de forma de la manera más absoluta. Pero eso no quita que haya sido un excelente boxeador. No solo tiene pegada (obvio), sino que se sabe mover, caminar, esquivar y es muy técnico en el ring. Es digno de admiración al menos para mí. Y creo que si hubiese tenido mejor asesoramiento y puesta a punto en lo físico hubiese sido de los más grandes en el boxeo. Hablo del box y no de éste deporte que estamos viendo, ya que incursionó al final de su ciclo

Butterbean was not the only odd, oversized, but good heavyweight boxer. Back in the '30s, NJ's Two-Ton Tony Galento at 235 lb (5'9) would eat like Diamond Jim Brady which would challenge the eating habits during training of Big George Foreman. He had many unorthodox methods of fighting including not bathing so he'd stink in the ring (so said, Max Baer). Galento wasn't as heavy as Butterbean but he did not have an athletic body. But Tony's record against ranked name opponents is a little more respectable than Butterbeans. Galento's record: 112 fights, 79 wins (57 by KO), against 26 losses & 6 draws. A bum? More like a bar-room brawler. In June '39 he fought for the heavyweight championship against Joe Louis. Galento gave Joe a hard time. He staggered Joe with a left hook in the first round. In the second Louis started to show his skills by beating up Galento. Then Galento nailed Louis again with a left hook & Louis went down. Louis won later in the fight when Galento couldn't continue. But what a fight. Louis said Tony hit very hard & he had to end it. Tony fought Max Baer & Lou Nova as well. Galento held his own with some tough boxers of his day & defeated some. Tony also defeated a man known for his wrestling career, not his early single-fight boxing career -- Fred Blassie. Galento KO'd the 220 lb, Freddie, in the 2nd round. This was Freddie's first & last boxing match. Galento was basically a dirty fighter. Rabbit punches & gouging eyes. Back in the day Galento also effectively did wild self-promotion for himself. What Muhammad Ali did in the 60s. Tony ridiculed, thwarted, was aggressive with "threats" against his opponents including Louis. He was a splendid self-promoter. Butterbean has never met anyone to my knowledge ranked in the Top 10. No real name boxers other than Larry Holmes who was basically retired & older when they met. It was also Butterbean's longest fight at 10 rounds. He lost the fight to Larry but survived well. Butterbean usually fights 4 rounders. Yes, respect for Butterbean -- he has guts, loses like a gentleman, obviously loves the sport & is a likable man. Nothing to laugh at. Few laughed at Tony Galento. There are some people who are just naturally tough. Hey, is Bob Sapp still fighting? Get him on the phone.

Jaime -- it's like jabs. Jabs are not always hard punches, but stingers -- but if consistent they add up (Ali was effective with this). They rattle your head. Body punches to someone like Butterbean by a fighter who hits hard over several rounds (like Joe Frazier) will start to feel it. He's heavy but that doesn't mean he has hard-developed muscles protecting him. If a weak fighter hits him yes, it may be a wasted effort. But a Frazier or Foreman, or a Tua. But most fighters like Rocky Marciano trained on a heavy bag (he used a 300 lb bag -- heavier than average). So when he hit a heavy man like a Butterbean it hurt like hell because he knew where to plant the punches. Strategy. When Rocky met the much beefier ranked British-European Champion Don Cockle -- Rocky's punches took a toll. Many of Rocky's opponents outweighed him. He had to have an advantage & his solid, fast punches by both hands, his aggressiveness with stamina was unbeatable, even against a big man.

Average untrained person fighting an obese person. Is it even worth ripping the body or is it better just to head hunt ? I mean the obese person doesn't have hard developed muscle but that thick blanket of lard will surely offer some degree of protection vs a lean person with no hard developed muscle either. So is that degree of protection offered by the blanket of lard enough to make body shots something that will tire me out before actually hurting the obese man ? Weird question I know but my boss is obese and I've about had it with the verbal abuse.
