Steven Stevens one of the coolest guitarist!
@KyOty1

An avid toy collector, Steve used an old 1950’s Ray Gun toy, activating the toy’s trigger while holding it against his guitar’s pickups to create some of the amazing sounds he produced on this song. Definitely one of the most underrated guitarists of the era IMHO.

My husband loves Steve more than he loves Billy. I love Billy just as much as I love Steve. 😂
Billy Idol is great and has gone through a lot. Like he was in a bad motorcycle accident and almost lost his life and leg, then he was stabbed in the leg by a fan at a show, and he was so broke that when he did the video for White Wedding he was basically putting all his hopes on it and the director did it at a very reduced price. If you ever react to his song Cradle of love, which I do suggest you do, the reason he is shot from the waist up is because of his injuries from the accident. I also recommend the songs Eyes without a face, Mony mony, and Dancing with myself. I also just have to say he was pretty funny on the movie The Wedding Singer.

Billy Idol's 1st band was called "Generation X"...then he went solo in 1981and hired that guitarist Steve Stevens (who is a BEAST) and being that I am a member of Generation X (people born between 1965 and 1980) ...Billy Idol and Steve Stevens played a huge part in our soundtrack of life,

I think a lot of that is just getting used to the music. If you had no knowledge on rock you may assume that the yelling is bad and or pointless. Once you dig in though you come to realize that the right yell at the right time is similar to a normal singer changing pitch in order to make the emotion come across.

Guitarist is Steve Stevens. He’s been Billy’s writing partner since the 80s. He still tours with him. Fun fact: he won a Grammy for writing the ‘Top Gun Anthem’ from the movie ‘Top Gun’. Edit: he didn’t write the anthem, he won the Grammy for performing it. Thanks for the correction, Norm!

Do you really think this dude knows the movie Top gun? He doesn't seem to know much about anything.
When this was released we all understood that old idea of every woman secretly wants a BAD BOY!!!! Billy Idol fit that concept perfectly!!! Total guilty pleasure!!!🎶🎤🎧🎸🎼🎵🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘💜💜💜
Ok so Steve Stevens wrote most of the riffs, hooks, music for Billy Idol’s hits, he’s the mega guitarist on the video. He was also guest guitarist on Michael Jackson’s Dirty Diana single. Re: his guitar sound. He used a Lexicon PCM41 modulating device to create that sound combined with a delay pedal. But he also collects 2nd hand toy ray guns from ebay. Then he open them up, plays around with the electronics and then fires the gun next to the guitar strings to get a similar sound. He’s an incredible player and a very humble guy.
Steve Stevens the legendary guitarist has said in interviews that he used a 50's/60's laser gun for that one effect.

He is so underrated
This song really defines the first half of the 80’s for me. Steve Stevens his guitarist is a big part of Billy’s success. He cowrote many songs on the first few albums, laid down much of the music and even recorded the bass as well as his guitar on several songs. According to Steve, the intro sounds to this song are him on guitar, NOT keyboard. He is guitar elite!

Rock-n-Roll. Billy Absolutely Rocks!!!!!
Billy Idol did a cover of the song, "Mony, Mony", which was originally recorded by Tommy James And The Shondells in 1966. When Idol's version of the song came out, when the song was played at dances, girls would run like crazy out onto the dance floor.
I was a little more obsessed with Billy Idol in the day lol, I made one wall of my room a collage of his beauty... I'll never forget my grandma (southern gal) coming in, looking around, and he caught her eye, she says "He's kindly sexy ain't he? if only he did somethin with that hair!" Hahahaa Oh gramma, NOoO!!😂 (She was talking to me with my own spiked af hair!) Hehee!🤘

One of the best guitarists. Him and billy are incredible together. This guitarist was also in Michael Jackson dirty Diana. Which is amazing.
Billy Idol always made sure his fans got their money's worth.
Best growl in Rock-'n'-Roll 🔥🎸
I saw Billy at a festival about 12 years ago. Still looked the same, still a great voice and the ‘rebel yell’ was held for a good 10 seconds.
Billy Idol's trademark was the lip snarl. Another excellent song is "Eyes Without a Face". Billy's rival for the title King of Punk was Adam Ant (Adam and the Ants). Adam is also a mesmerizing performer.
My FAVORITE Billy Idol song is "Flesh for fantasy " It's SOOOO good 💜❤️💜❤️
He's still touring and performing (in his 60's) because he loves his fans. We saw him in 2019 at the Washington State Fair and he was AMAZING. The whole band is still rocking and the personal stories he told between songs really made you appreciate them all the more.
Billy was just so electric. He took punk, turned it on it's ear and spit out something truly unique.

Billy is the coolest rock star EVER
Welcome to my youth! Gods, the music was great- still is! I'm heading on an 1100 mile road trip next Sunday, and this is what I'll be listening to (when the boyfriend doesn't whine too much about it, anyway!) So if anyone hears the not so faint strains of 70s and 80s rock, punk, and oddities, it could be me, driving through! Much love from the Old Broad
Billy Idol, what a god, back then we always wanted MORE...Billy Idol. If you don't move to this, you're dead. I hear this and other Idol songs and my head starts banging, it takes a like of it's own. I think this will continue to happen, (banging my head), even when I'm 95 and my neck will crack and that will be the death of me.
I'll be completely Honest, I Loved Me Some Billy Idol When it First Came Out. But MTV which was Relatively New Ran His Songs to Death! After about a Month of the Only Source of Music Videos Used Billy as a Poster Boy, I was Done. It took me about a Decade to Return to the Early 80's Music and when KZread (Re)Introduced these Music Video I Fell in Love with them All Over Again. Hope You Enjoy the Music of My Youth. Billy Idol is a Legend!
I am a huge Billy Idol fan. Have been since mid 80s. Saw him perform at the Hollywood Palladium in 84. He was SO great! So fun and very much like the Rebel Yell video. His guitarist is the great Steve Stevens who has been with him a long time. Their pairing produces magic and yes, Billy is the best screamer in the biz... and a legendary ladies man. He played the field hard and was a drug addict which fortunately he overcame before being taken out. He is still performing and I am seeing him in Vegas this October. Billy is a rock god and I still listen to and love his music. Take a look at “Mony Mony”, “Don’t Need A Gun”, “Forgot to be a Lover”, “Dancing With Myself” and there a more. Thanks for reacting to Billy!

Why Billy Idol was so iconic is because he had anywhere from 3 to 5 different beats in his music and that my dear had to be very well incorporated!!!? 🌈☝️✝️☝️🌈
My favorite of all time song. Steve Stevens . I had the pleasure to see Billy Idol in concert in 1984
OMG! I love your expressions throughout the song. You captured what I felt hearing this song for the first time in the 80s. Billy Idol is a legend!
Billy is the MAN! And his guitarist Steve Stevens is amazing! I saw him in concert a few years ago and had meet and greet tickets! He still rocks just as hard, and is still very attractive for his age! I got pics with him and Steve and shook Billy's hand...they were incredibly soft, by the way!
Definitely one of the best songs of the 80s
In the 1980's Billy was considered Alternative/Punk Rock. Love him. Great sounds, definitely never kniw what you'll get from him.
Oh YES, you are correct, Jay; we ALL wanted Billy 🔥🔥🔥
"Dancing with myself" and "eyes without a face" by Billy idol is also amazing too
Born in 1966. Not thrilled to be in my 50s but know music from so many eras. Blessed.
The 80's would not have been the same without Billy Idol. I can't remember how many times I heard this on MTV back in the day, probably too many, but it seemed fresh and entertaining this time. Great choice.
When I was a kid, my aunt taught me the lyrics of the Rebel Yell. I learn later that my Mom at least, wasn't very pleased that i was being taught this song. Fast Forward fifteen-twenty years, my aunt who got me interested in Billy Idol, adopted a girl with her husband, my uncle. When I went out to meet my new cousin, I brought along a couple of a Billy Idol Greatest Hits disc to play for her, and my aunt refused to let her listen to it.
Everything about Billy Idol is brilliant. An icon from the 80
I remember watching Billy Idol on MTV back in the 80’s, when they actually played music videos! The fist that defined a generation!
Billy's version of the 1960's hit Mony Mony.
I love it- not even half way through and you already know he is an icon! The 80s from beginning to end were the best!

“ Dancing With Myself” is a must!!
Love Billy and his snarl! This is one of my all time favs by him!
Steve Stevens is his awesome guitar player-according to Billy’s memoir book, he met Steve when he first came to New York to go solo. Still playing together, and Billy is, what, 63? And still shirtless! 👍😎
I had the BIGGEST crush on Billy. When all my friends had NKOTB posters up I had Billy Idol and Michael Hutchence.
"he seems like a character " understatement of the day !! Lol !
Yeah, definitely iconic performance
I love Billy. His swag is legendary. And this is another song on my playlist.
I was listening to music tonight and I found it! I found it! A song for you two to have the best piano, best dance, best feel good, best guitar, best time. Lynyrd Skynyrd - Call Me The Breeze. Love you guys!

Billy should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!!!
Das evolution of Rock music became many things...Jazz Rock, Blues Rock, Rock & Roll, Soft Rock, Acid Rock, Rock, Southern Rock, Hard Rock, ...(PR)..., Heavy Metal Rock, Alternative Rock, etc. Billy Idol was das king of (PR) Punk Rock. :-)
One more Billy video to check out is To Be a Lover. Total jam!
Steve stevens!!! One of the best guitarist in the world!!! I grew up listening to Billy since i was 4. I listen to him everyday since i was little. Listen to dancing with myself!
What kid in the 80's didn't love Billy Idol. He put on a helluva live show. I've seen him a few times and he was always great. Steve Stevens is a beast and the whole band killed it! The 80's was the BEST time to grow up!
As a child of the 80s, I grew up watching MTV. When I first saw this video, I fell in love with Billy Idol. During my college years, I would play my REBEL YELL cassette on my Walkman on a weekly basis. Great memories! Since you like 80s music, you should see THE WEDDING SINGER. I love this movie, and Billy has a tiny part in it!
Billy Rocks... 😁 Eyes without a face! Next!!! 👍👍
As a teen, the third album I ever bought, was Billy Idol's Rebel Yell. Good music ages like fine wine. And yeah, the girls went wild for Billy, it's why I got my hair styled, ear pierced (spiked) like his, back in the day (I was born with the Elvis lip curl, Billy exaggerated). lol
Flesh for Fantasy Catch my Fall Hot in the City Dancing with Myself Just a few Great Billy Idol songs...
Steve Stevens is badass guitar player! He did a little ballad solo in the original Top Gun that is iconic!
Oh, he's a character!!!!! But he's a great entertainer!!!!! Very fun to watch!!!! Another 80s great!!!!
Love is Elvis Presley lip curl and he even tones it down to an Elvis soft, speaking sound. Most miss that part. Lol
Wow! Triple Uploads! 😆
I have watched a lot of your reaction videos, this is 100% my favourite reaction of you to a song! Billy Idol is the man to rock to!
He had the best rock voice of the day.
Forgot to be a lover is also a great Billy Idol song!
Billy Idol would never have got so far as he did without guitarist Steve Stevens, living god. This is my Spanish class, Junior year.
Three ways you can feel that kind of energy. In combat with the bullets flying and the adrenalin pumping. At a revival when the preacher brings down the holy ghost . At a great Rock Concert!
In the fall of 1986, I was in 10th grade and our Varsity football team was going to state. For the week leading up to the game, between every single class, they played this song over the loud speakers. We were the South High Rebels. It was so cool.
Back in the 80's he was one of those artists that defined the time and vibe. It's still that way. Just hearing certain artists named brings you the memory/imagery. Like saying "parachute pants", lol.
As a guitarist myself, Steve Stevens is one of my favorite guitarists! I saw Billy Idol live at the old Irvine Amphitheater a long time ago, and they were awesome live!!
GEESH.... you're killing it today with your reaction picks!!!! LOVE Billy!!!❤ Gonna watch now!!😉

80s music is so addicting!
Billy and Steve are still doing shows. I saw them in Vegas few years ago and they still sound awesome, especially in a small venue.
They brought in actual fans to make the video. The band actually played for then. The crowd started getting so crazy, they had to be told to calm down. So, that's why the crowd looks so into it.

Idol, like a lot of entertainers, has that star quality...middling talent, but boatloads of charisma and showmanship and presence...born to be an entertainer. fortunately he gives the guitar player, the real technical talent in this video, his place in the spotlight
