Btw, removing oneself from something unhealthy is not being dismissive avoidant. Especially when one says why and the other … avoids it. Although the argument could be made that I can become dismissive and avoidant with other avoidants… when and if they are being avoidant. It goes nowhere other than a circle. A confusing… spinning… circle. This is why it is very important to me not only to disclose uncomfortable things but expect them to be disclosed, as well. Especially when it makes the most difference. When it comes to actual DAs… not a big fan. I will be immediately dismissive and avoidant with them but guess what? Not even remotely in more mutually reciprocal and healthy connections. I am not in this life to be another avoidants unpleasant accountability sponge. Tips and tricks: Finding more empathic connections can help remedy and be more supportive in these endeavors✨ Neglect them and… adios amigo. Especially in the early stages… I mean, my goodness… The real thing doesn’t fit neatly into a little box, it can be deeply challenging (in a growth/healing/transformative & supportive way. Challenging imbalanced ways, expectations, beliefs, etc), is what one may call “serendipitous”and rewarding. No risk, no reward. It’s funny… some people deeply fear intimacy and vulnerability. As it turns out, not so much for me. But I do fear enmeshment. It’s subtle and coercive and… i have a sneaking suspicion it’s another avoidance of vulnerability/intimacy. Better to develop those underdeveloped muscles and skills. Walling them off doesn’t help in the long term. I fear the destabilizing effects of putting myself on the line when I sense potential and … it is not appropriately reciprocated. As it turns out, when it is… whadda you know? No more destabilizing effects. It never ceases to amaze and frustrate me just how often I’ve been on the receiving ends of those things and either implicitly or explicitly accused of them… by those who aren’t owning up to their own contributions or lack thereof. That’s an example of a form of projection. More over, it’s potentially projective identification. Codependency and enmeshment is really unpleasant for me to experience. No matter what else may be in there… working towards interdependence is much better and even more better-er if you have someone who’s up to snuff on all this and can help each other out in more safely recovering from that and or any other number of departments which as we’ve come to find over the years are actually pretty important (and not at all uncommon. On the contrary...) It’s better. A lot better. Especially for those of us who are actual empaths, metacogs (I don’t know of a more applicable term for it), etc. My time and energy is not to be abused like a drug. Medicinal use only.

@@Agent_Exodus seriously I also read the book and the entire Lonesome Dove is what real people from the west you're watching about would tell you. This is some YoungBunz type shit where val kilmer got to wear a fake mustache too. They all got carried away by the moustaches and way over did the old cowboy gee shucks ma'am shit routine.

@@Agent_Exodus just the over done accents alone are enough to make me puke. Stupid ass voice coaches went way over board and tried to sound like Mark Twain but none of these dudes completed grammar school. They could barely read. And they're gonna wax poetic with 5 dollar words constantly? The dialogue is the same damn troupe. But I take it you're from California and would have no actual idea about such historical matters.
