I love every aspect of doc’s character. Well dressed, educated, cool accent, classy yet rough and tough at the same time, Rides solo pretty much yet has many friends, Full of mystery, Dangerous with a six gun, Never scared, Witty, Gambler, Musician, Killer facial hair, Slick one liners, And everything else about his mannerism. I mean the guy is basically the most interesting man in the world

Tie between that and The Doors for me. It was only seeing clips in Val that I realized I was straight up misremembering Jim Morrison as Val, not how Jim actually looked in real life.

This movie happened all thanks to Kurt Russell. He knew it was going to be something special so he made sure it got made because it nearly fell thru during production but Kurt kept it going with money and producing. Word is that he directed some of it too, uncredited.

The way Val Kilmer delivered that line, just two words, "I don't". The feeling in his voice, and the look in his eyes, always almost brings me to tears. The swaggering, fearless persona of Doc has dropped away. His bravado has vanished, and in that moment, he's telling the absolute truth. I've always been a quality over quantity guy when it comes to friends, and I know the feeling that comes up when I think about what I would do for my friends if they but asked me. Chilling.

James Hayes I am very smart. Why honor a duel against a guy that shot your brother through a window after shooting your other brother as he walked home. Has nothing to do with being a tough guy and everything to do with defending your family. Even Bat Masterson said Earp had incredible valor and disarmed guys in Kansas without drawing his weapon off sheer tenacity and grit. Plebs don’t get to talk about greatness and say “no one was scared of Earp” because plenty of people backed down against Earp and just because Ringo was a exceptional pistolier doesn’t mean Earp couldn’t have split Ringos melon Red Sea wide with a long Gun because Ringo was dumb enough to tell him where he would be and then show himself in the open first. It’s called being smarter than the moron. Earp was feared because of his grit not his skill even though he did have his own skills, but he was feared and people rambling that he wasn’t don’t know what they are talking about.

Actually Ron maybe right. The pistol behind the back is facing the direction Curly Bill is approaching from. Doc could sling with his left and smoke Ringo, and possibly fire from his back toward Curly Bill. To draw a weapon from behind your back is longer than from the holster. Ringo would've smoked him.

It now makes more sense why he went and killed Ringo before Wyatt could. To protect and know his friend would survive, but also, as he so eloquently put it "We started a game we never got to finish, for blood remember." Doc didnt let it go, Doc held a grudge and made sure he payed for threatening his friend. I love this movie, I HATE westerns, but this is one of my favorite movies of all time, and its because of scenes like this.

This shows that they thought of Doc as much of a friend as he thought of them.

If Val Kilmer ever played a kooler/better role somebody show me to it. He flat out murdered this iteration of Doc Holiday

His portrayal of Jim Morrison in the Doors was pretty damn epic too. Toss up between these two as to which is best for me.

I love that Doc always lets the other guy go first. It's a confidence slap to his opponent. He's saying "I'm so damn good I'm giving you the head start and I'll still beat you." As soon as he says that you are as good as dead.
