Hey, nice video. I just got the same reel and I can’t figure out if it is broken or something. The handle is like loose and it seem ms different from my other rods. How do you tighten down the handle

@@forzagameplay1731 thanks for watching. You tighten the handle by the holding bale still and reeling the handle the normal way. It will snug up tight.

Man, I would love to do some salt water fishing. Great review Mike, weight is so important with gear, as is the handle shape as you mentioned. It can make all the difference with fatigue during a long session. Nice job!👏🏻

Thanks 👍my favorite fishing rod is just that because it feels like it's not there. I'm excited to see and document the differences between it and diawa bg as I will using them back and forth throughout the year to wrap up this review. Hopefully it helps someone.

@@DadLifeFishingAdventures I’m sure it will. I’ve got some budget combos that are really light and some that are bulky and make you not even want to use them. The same for upper end gear as well.

Nice review like how you compared the weight with the diawa, weight is very key to me when out on the water.

I just got the 7000 series. Spooled with 65lbs power pro. Fixed on an 11 foot offshore angler surf rod. Put it to the test this morning with a 50 + lb cow nose ray. Fight time 1/2 hour. Rood and reel handled outstanding. I have lots of offshore angler rods. This is my first reel. Job well done

It is definitely a great reel and is up to the test for those big saltwater battles. That is an awesome battles. Those rays can really put the beating on fisherman and tackle.

Where do you find the spec sheets for these? My wife “washed mine off” in the surf when it fell in the sand recently… needless to say, it’s not a sealed reel and I can barely turn the handle now after a quick rinse off back at the hotel…

Try googling the product number for your reel with the text oa frigate spinning reel manual. There a couple out there.

@@DadLifeFishingAdventures ji found one for a frigate 8000. I was hoping I could just change file extensions and find the 4000 and 5000. I thought they were made by Penn? However the 5000 has a lot less drag, and is 4.9 vs 5.5 I think gear ratio. It certainly does ok landing 3’ plus sharks on a MH rod. A stiffer rod might have helped more.
