FACT FILE
Project: Office at Threshold
Typology: Office Architecture + Interiors
Location: Chhatral, Gujarat
Design Firm: Reasoning Instincts Architecture Studio, Ahmedabad
Built-up Area: 1100 sq.ft
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Achieving an urban contemporary edge, this simple unified form floating above the ground carries out a perfect balance between functionality and aesthetics.
The small structure sits in a dry and arid industrial context next to a busy state highway. Designed as a sole workspace of a young CEO at the threshold of his vast industrial estate, the expression of the office block aims at providing high standards of comfortable work environment to the owner and to his esteemed visitors. The workspace is designed to specifically suit the industrial functionality of the client’s nature of work with visual connectivity to his entire unit at all times.
This 1000 sq. ft. workspace is a simple unified form floating above the ground which houses a reception, a conference area, CEO cabin and private rest area. All spaces lie in a linear arrangement, connected by a corridor.
Built with a concrete frame structure, the building is partially cladded with the yellow coloured local stone - ‘Ita Gold’ to add a sense of vibrancy to the main recessed reflective double glazed façade. The dark colour on the exteriors and extended floating plinth helps to achieve an urban contemporary edge in the overall appearance of the building.
The interiors evince a combination of traditional and contemporary materials which is bolstered up with the use of Royale Play International Designer Collection. Contemporary finishes such as monolithic concrete Micro Topping floor, rusty ironic paints, back painted glass and stainless steel compliments the natural materials like customized hexagonal pieces of Ghana teak as backdrop wall, Bidasar stone (local stone) mosaics and finger-joint wood (discarded residual wood) to create a juxtaposed collage of different materials. The Royale Play Ironic paint portrays the drama and poetry of rust. It converts mere walls into epic expressions of industrial and urban beauty, possessing the many-hued imperfections and tantalising effects of rust. Executed with contemporary details and finishes, the design furnishes a great experience.

the edit needs to be tighter. while they speak we need to see more of the house so that we can relate to what the architects is saying visually. Watching them talk gets boring after a point.

Maybe if the video focused more on the actual work rather than useless, empty words. It becomes annoying right from the start....... Raised platform in our weather conditions? So that it becomes harder to clean and small animals and lurk inside? The space comes across as cold. It should have been more warm and rustic to blend in with the surroundings. It looks like a walk in gallery of a mobile shop.

Please stop saying detailed floor plan as they just provide simple plan which even don't have room dimensions, however it is good for architect, interior students explaining planning and design aspects but for engineers it is useless guyz, not included any structural plan.
