Off to ECCLESHALL classic car show 2023

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Join us at the Eccleshall classic car show 2023 as we head over to Staffordshire in the mighty Standard 8. The vehicle display is a large section within a one-day country/agricultural show, part of which is the classic car & other vehicles area. We weren't sure how many old vehicles would take part, given that this was our first visit, but we needn't have worried as there was a great turnout of classic cars, lorries, tractors and several interesting old motorcycles.
Highlights for me at the Eccleshall classic car show included interesting chats with the owner of a family-owned-from-new Triumph 2000 Mk1, and also conversation with the owner of a recently-refurbished Morris Minor Series 2 Traveller, a rare sight nowadays in the classic car world.
Other interesting cars spotted at Eccleshall included a super-rare Austin Victoria - basically a Spanish-built, booted, Austin 1100/1300 - plus a Citroen Traction Avant, an oddball 2CV-based Citroen Mehari, Vauxhall VX4/90 (FB Victor era), an immaculate A40 Farina Mk1, a swoopy Daimler Roadster of the 1950s, a 1940s La Salle, Bond Minicars, a "bullnose" two-stroke SAAB 96, and a 1927 Citroen tourer. It was definitely worth the trip over, we even managed to buy a few small gems ...
I hope this one is of interest, the classic car show calendar is beginning to slow down a little now after a frantic few months but there are still a few classic car events we hope to get along to over the next few weeks. I'll definitely be adding the Eccleshall classic car show to our calendar for 2024.
Thanks for watching, likes, comments and subs welcomed as always.

Another great video with some lovely cars and commercials. I bought a 1960 2 door saloon Morris Minor 499 HNN for £80 in 1974 which belonged to my uncle in Yeovil. It was a 948cc engine with trafficators. Unfortunately I was transferred with my job to Redhill in 1975 and by December 1976 the rigours of travelling weekly up from Somerset on a Monday morning and back home on a Friday afternoon proved too much for the old girl. I loved that car though and am forever perusing the Internet looking longingly at Minor 1000s. Alas at 70 and with no mechanical expertise my dream of reliving that part of my past seem unlikely.

Morgan's would be a favorite. Eccles cake is apparently enjoyed with tea and Lancshire cheese. But mainly there was Eccles by Spike Milligan who knew what time it was because a nice man had written it down for him on a piece of paper earlier in the day.

Good one RJ. I shudder to think what it must be like at OCC Base on Saturday evenings with both you and Harley editing for your Sunday uploads. it must cost an absolute fortune to keep those lorries on the road and in the excellent condition many are in. That also looks a first rate event. Harley's can look like an Aladdins Lamp. That W109 is magnificent

We edit up the videos throughout the week then upload them with a few days to spare usually (not always!!), the uploads can take so long that I have to leave them running overnight quite often - and even then they're often still running well into the following morning, so it can take a lot of forward planning. Running out of space on the PC is another major problem. I might do a vid about making the vids sometime. Thanks as always for watching this stuff!

Born in 1962 i have very fond memories of the families and their family cars on my street. There was me and my older brother and sister in the back seat and we had enough space in the likes of Vauxhall Victor and such five seater salons but there was a family of six kids, parents and a dog all in a Morris Minor, another family on my street with five kids, parents and a small dog all crammed into a Austin A40. Different times.... Happy day`s.! Love your videos.

Thanks so much for doing such a detailed video of our local show. I was also there all day and missed so much of what you covered. Well done. You are right about that red E Type series 1 semi lightweight recreation, it gets super hot with the hard top on in the summer. Quite toasty on a typical spring morning mind. I wasn't aware you did videos as well as the slide shows. Being of certain age, dad had many of these cars! I do have my own channel too. Please just ask if you are interested. A lot of my videos are rallies and museums etc. I wonder if you are familiar with a guy I follow from Stafford, GDB Recovery. Thank you for such a great video. Thank you for the longer film too. Because of my brothers love for BC cars and VWs of that period i hav also taken an interest. Getting behind the wheel of an Austin Healey 3000 , Tr4 , MGB, Sprite, or Aston Martin has changed my perspective. Working on 67 bus, 72 Spitfire, 68 bug ,63 Porshe 356B ive changed my personal choices. I liked driving the MGB and TR6. i have not liked driving older British sports cars. The Porshe was fun but i dont recomend modified Beatles . They ride rough. i am tall and must have the drivers seat all the way back. The Sprite was too cramped Maxda Miata is suprisingly a comfortable fun car and probly as close to an Elan as im likely to get. i am building a project car using The Austin 1300 body that someone modified for a pickup. it now sits on a dune buggy frame and Karmin Ghia drive train. it sports a Spitfire gastank and steering wheel. Roshedale seats.

A few observations.... I very much liked the Triumph 2000 as well, and it had possibly the rarest part you'll ever see, that being the Triumph labelled blanking plate for the radio hole. Next, I had at one time a particularly good Vauxhall VX 4/90 FB, and I thought that it was so nearly a really good car. It just needed 1.8 litres instead of 1.6, and an overdrive. But really, I'm a Vanguard guy (when I'm not a Rover P6 guy). It was good to see the Phase I, though I own a Phase 3 estate, which was on the page your little book kept opening to!
