This is like a British version of Matt’s Off-road Recovery. Good job! To be fair if the Range Rover had had off road tyres he would’ve had a better chance.

A tool is only as good as it’s workman, with the right tyres this is formidable , with road summer pattern tyres it’s got no more grip than most cars

I used to go off roading in an old Fiat panda 4x4, the lesson that taught me was Colin McCrae was right: If in doubt - flat out!

I bet a good old Series Land Rover would have coped

Wahey thanks 😂 bit naughty though that clip off youtube! Its because the wheel had 1 BOLT ON! Rest were snapped! Thats why i needed a lane 1 to load it!! Oh well thats tv for you!

That’s what happens when a three piece suite with gel in his hair try to off road with a RR and don’t know how to use the car, taking into account the car will do it for you if in the right setting.

Hello? Do you mean ad blue? Negative its all factory no remaps no deletes etc, ad blue usuage is extremely minimal in this compared to my iveco! GDB

Road tyres 😖 - at least in my Disco 4 I have rubber mats that can be used for extra traction in an emergency. 👍 But I have only found a single tyre that fits my 255/50/R20 spec - that is the Yokohama Geolander AT - all terrain, all season, with the snowflake mark that makes it legal in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, etc. in the winter. The is no other tyre on the market (that I have found so far) with this size and spec.

I know an old defender 90 with mud tyres would walk through there😂

Disco made light work of that u see alot of people try and slowly tow things out but in deep mud that's the best way that first hit of energy stops it bogging back in , im surprised she hasn't sold yet

Unfortunately it can happen, ive had 2 go previously. I shopped long and hard before buying this one had lr warranty and both belts done and a good previous owner who cared well for it. Is what it is unfortunately.

Just because it had road tyres. If the rangy had mud tyres or even all terrain it probably wouldnt have got stuck. Or like he said, more speed would probably have got him through

There are concepts that are hard for some (OP, I'm referencing you here) to understand. If, for example, you have low profile road based wheels it doesn't matter how good your vehicle or skills are, you're still going to struggle.

Had a range rover 6x6 some years ago!

Sometimes aggressive mud tyres can be a hindrance. Just sitting there digging holes until you're up to your axles, something less aggressive. Leaves you sat on top with spinning wheels. I know which is easier to recover.

To be honest the Discovery is over priced. If you aren’t happy taking that much of a over a short period, perhaps keep it longer? Values of them have fallen quite drastically in the last 18 months.

Surely the Landcruiser could have pulled him out?

Trouble is most are on low profile road tires and it is a very heavy vehicle no matter how could the electronic traction control is.

Lack of know how and proper tyres, not the vehicle.

More money than brain cells. buy a chelsea tractor. Good for dropping the brats / picking up from school. off road ? get a grip !!!
