Off Grid Cabin in the Alaskan Wilderness

Our first overnight trip to our cabin in the woods was a success! We head out on a 60 mile snowmachine excursion to access the remote cabin and when we arrive there is a entire day's worth of cleaning to do. After settling down for our first hot meal, cooked courtesy of the mini camp stove, we get a good night's rest for the long journey home. As we leave our new cabin we can't help looking forward to the many more adventures yet to come!
We appreciate you tagging along for our Alaskan adventure 😀

I don’t know about anyone else, but seeing your videos pop up makes my day. Also I really enjoy the long videos. It’s almost like it’s own little tv show. So happy for the both of you acquiring this new property and opportunity. My wife and I bought a remote plot of land along a river in the mat su valley and we are planning on moving up there from the lower 48 this coming summer. Alaska is the land of freedom and opportunity and we can’t wait to live up there full time to live our dreams just like you two are.

Me and my girl lived in the country side from March to December with more than you had (running water, hot water from the sun, heating with wood, toilet outside, shower outside, kitchen outside). We called it quits in December and went to the city. When cold got to us it became too much. We enjoyed it a bunch until then. But you seem to have a blast in those hard conditions.

I recommend that you look into Heimo and Edna Korth. He raised his entire family (4 daughters) in a small cabin in the very remote Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. In fact, he’s one of the only permanent residents in an area larger than most states. Not to take anything away from Eric and Ariel, I think they are great. But, the Korth’s optimize what you mean by a true Alaskan. Hunting, trapping, fishing and building your own cabin. Check them out if you dig this kind of lifestyle.

@@tsar-bomba2413 i agree I would have been on that stove before anything. He could have vented that stove out a window and kept that place warmer then that little propane heater. But that’s just me. I don’t think it was in that bad of shape to just get the stack back up through the roof and get a small fire going. As tall as that stack is it wouldn’t be that hot going through the room unless he got a huge fire going maybe.

Way to go guys! We are on our 3rd hundred page logbook for our cabin in off the Petersville Road. Keep the log going and insist all visitors make a comment. Passive rain collection is a big help. Put a sauna on the list. To get a nights sleep in June a small bug tent is essential used on the deck or on the floor inside.

It is so much fun to find all those "treasures" and guess how and what all of the rich, pioneering and exploring history happened there in the remote, wild wilderness of Alaska. Very inspiring, and as Ariel mentioned, the chance of a lifetime. Chapter one.

I just discovered you . I really like your vids. I had a home right on the Kenai river for 6 years . Was beyond awesome. I’m from NYC ! Lol What I really wanted to say is this : your significant other , Really Really has your back ! Of course I already know that Alaskan girls simply kick ass . Watching the video , I could not help but notice how she politely frequently asks if she can help you . Related to Any Task . And usually related to the specific task at hand . That’s a sign of a logical ,motivated , constructive , thinking , partner . I also noticed she almost goes out of the way , to be respectful, when asking and when making constructive thought out suggestions. Never heard even the most remote , wiff of a compliant . She also checks things , like you would expect from an Alaskan , she’s got your back . As you and I know in Alaska , remote , etc ....the quality of your partner can easily mean the difference between life and death . Even in day to day activities. Your Gal is a warrior ! , and she respects you and your cool Alaskan lifestyle to the max . Really nice to see ! It’s far and few between nowadays .....silvio
