Mind you, I’m 68 years old. But I remember when I was 7 and caught a Northern in our little cabin lake outside of Duluth. It was a skinny little thing but my dad let me keep it. I was shaking with weird excitement and the photo my dad took of me holding it up caught my equally weird expression. It’s a classic. And yes, we ate it. My dad wouldn’t have it any other way. With bones. ❤️❤️ A thousand thanks to you both who continue to make me look back to my amazing dad and how he would have so loved you.

In the Netherlands it is the same…..nothing on the tv! Like any other day of the week…. 99% of watching “tv” for me is spent on YT/Netflix and all other things like that. I only watch tv when I know there is a nice film on or a tv show I like. Wish there was a 24/7 simple living Alaska channel 😂✌🏻😜
It’s sad to see Bo struggle, old age catches us all. We just lost one of our ACD’s we got both of them at 8 weeks that was 18 years ago the surviving sister is also struggling as well. They become your kids cherish the warm days for Bo’s old bones. Having the pleasure of your videos since you guys left Oregon the fact Bo and Bandit are almost with you guys no matter the time of year or the weather says it all about your guys character 👍🇺🇸🎣
I'm surprised you two don't wear bug nets. They are worth their weight in gold in such conditions! You can enjoy your activities in total comfort.

You're truly living the dream. Even the mosquitos don't seem to spoil the experience. Thanks for bringing us along.
I enjoy seeing your weather reports including the time of sunrise/sunset. Please consider including them more often. Much love to you all!
Thanks for taking us along!
Tip for the jet foot... instead of replacing the liner, sand most of the grooves out and use the shims to raise the impeller to a business card clearance. You dont have to replace it till you cant shim it anymore.
You two are the best, you bring us so much serenity in these difficult times! Thank you for taking the time to include us in your trips to the cabin.
My favourite part was a hungry Eric saying the fish taco was HIS right before he gave it to Ariel 😂 true love right there ☺️ Really felt it when you lost the first batch of fish! Whenever I forage food I immediately almost taste it and start imaging all the ways to cook it so I can only imagine the disappointment ! Turned out well in the end though ❤️
Poor old Bo @8:38 .. I know the feeling when a flight of stairs seems like Mt. Everest .. hang in there buddy❤🐾🐶
I can’t think of anything better than spending a Saturday night being part of your adventure! Thanks for sharing. 💕💕

You videos is always enjoyable to me, the view of the lake when you were fishing is more than beautiful, it's extremely awesome and your videos are always the best in showing us how we are blessed with such a pretty vivid nature and we should be thanking God for it every moment of our lives.
Ive been fishing my whole life, pike as well. The reason why you're catching so many big pikes is the time. They are extremely active around twilight, as they prefer colder water (around 15°C). They, especially the larger ones, will simply hang out in deeper waters until it cools down, and then come up once the sun is starting to fade and the water becoming cooler again. So my tip for future trips: Go for other wish while its sunny, go for pike at dusk.

@@frederickmoller but Pike are invasive and they must be kept, no catch and release pike in Alaska. It's probably same in other areas/States. In NY they are in Bear Mountain streams for sure, remembering catching those vicious fish, not my fav but when off duty, not commercial fishing, we had our fun recreationally. I absolutely enjoyed this episode, I was rooting for them to catch the "monster".

It never gets old watching all your adventures! Great watching you two catching fish! Thanks for taking us along!
Breathtaking light at midnight! Still wish I could see it one day. Love the episodes at the lake cabin! 🧚♀️🐞
Good evening from Canada! I've never commented before but am a long time watcher. Lots of great pike info here for sure, but having lived in a mecca for pike all my life my only meager advice is that if you want the biggest (i.e. The Beast) of pike (as water temperatures warm up) the best way is to drop a dead bait (e.g. smelt or other local fish - 8-10") on the bottom and wait. Boring as hell but super effective. The big boys are mostly scavengers and not hunters. You guys are livin' the dream, thanks for sharing with us.

I hope they say if that works or not - and if they tried it! That would be so fun to know!
This couple is very interesting. They are the most collaborative, industrious and productive folks that I have ever seen. The videos give me a wonderful window into what I wish my world could be like... if I was only 40 years younger with their energy, strength and endurance. Informative, inspiring, peaceful and quaint. I just discovered their channel yesterday and I have been watching them for hours over the past day. They will make wonderful parents to some very lucky children some day.
"Makes me even more motivated to catch a fish for tomorrow since we have nothing else to eat." LOL! 🐟🍽️
I know I always say this here but the cabin videos are my favorite! For some reason it makes me feel like I'm also on a weekend getaway.
What beautiful scenery!!!😍😍😍 That fishing was intense!!!😎😎😎 I Love it when y'all get shots of the planes landing and/or taking off from the water!!!💯💯💯 Much Love from FL 💖💞🌴💖💞🌴💖💞🌴

Sending many blessings 😊
Thank you-I NEEDED your post today!!!
Ohhh I just love watching you guys live off the land. Those pikes were awesome!! Great job. Thanks for sharing your experiences with us.
Amazing! Thanks for bringing us along!
Love your videos!!! On your hollow body frog, count to three before you set the hook. Your hook up ratio will improve greatly. I have been fishing only scum frogs for bass going in ten years now! The three count separates fish dinner from moose burgers!!!
Thanks for another great trip! I truly enjoy how genuinely excited you two are awhile catching fish! Can’t wait to see how the pickled pike turns out.
My mom's salmon ball / spread: -Smoked salmon - PNW style, not lox'y stuff! you can sub canned salmon + add liquid smoke after add the cream cheese if you can't find good smoked stuff at a reasonable price nowadays. -cream cheese -chives or green onion or red onion cut fine -capers - sometimes, she didn't use these all the time. Well chopped if the large ones. Sometimes she would just put these around the edges of the salmon ball for those who liked them. -parsley - cut fine. mix thoroughly, form into ball or place in nice container and refrig overnight to get best flavor. so so so good, it's simple, but the smoke is everything w/ the chives. Grew up in the Seattle area and every get together mom brought this, we never brought any home. It was always gone down to the last scrape. It's pretty much how people would eat smoked salmon on a cracker when I was growing up - but just mixed together so you don't have to take the time to make your cracker layers all nice! No worrying that something will roll off before it gets to your mouth ;-)
Love to watch you guys livin the dream.
Curious about what happened to Bo's back? The fishing was awesome. Do you leave a light at the trail head so you can find it in the dark? Perhaps you can make up an all natural bug repellent? My parents toured AK and also talked about the voracious mosquitoes. One tour bus was stopped dead by a moose leaning against the engine to drive off the biters. Will you be going back to some glaciers? Those are my favorite videos.

I just love watching your vlog. Besides being such an adorable couple, I've learned so much about Alaska from you all. I also love the education you both give to me from gardening tips to how to clean a fish. Not that I'll ever use that tip, haha, but nonetheless good to know. I think it's the time for you all to build a huge room addition to your homestead cabin. You can add an inside shower, sink, and commode, but still have them supplied with water like you do now. You need that for the winter time. Enjoyed the video! 💞👏🙏
The plane landing on the water reminds of the time you came to the cabin, by plane, cool experience.....the drone shots were awesome 👌 Don't kick yourself over lost fish, it's food for everything else, but lesson learned....Spectacular vlog tonite 😀

We call mosquitoes the "city birds" where I live because our town is surrounded by wetlands. When we moved here, the neighbor called them "bats" and said "don't get carried off by one." I thought he was joking until dusk. Lol

I couldn't help but notice a big chunk of Bo's fur had been shaved off his back as he was leaving the cabin near the end of the video. I hope he is okay. When your using the plastic frog try this: Once it hit count 1-5 and than set the hook. Took me a few times to figure this out but once you count to 3 or up to five then set the hook my catch ratio increased like crazy. Enjoy watching you two!

Rubber frogs "do not" hold up to a northern pikes teeth... they are designed for bass that have totally different teeth. Try replacing if you insist on using a rubber frog, replace the rubber legs with strips of pork rind or strips of beaver tail. Your frog will last much longer
