I honestly don't mind the hour+ episodes. I feel the same when I watch KZread vlogs, I always wish they were longer, but I also have the time in my day to watch super long videos. Can't wait for the next episode! ❤

It's funny, because I had always assumed that "we" referred to the dynamic duo of human Malin and in-game character Malin. And by playing the game, the two of them were building together. Your explanation makes a lot more sense though.

I love the long format videos! I turn them on when I play or sometimes when I just want something to watch while I do little chores around the house :)

Spring weeds are especially pretty, so I totally get you wanting to keep the tall ones.

I like the idea of hard mode, but those restrictive rules make it more like "pull-out-your-hair mode." It's great that more players are getting their inspiration back. That's great to see.

Watching this let’s play WAY after you posted but seeing your process of waterscaping and landscaping reminds me why I never decide to start over after my second island completion. I just keep redecorating but leave the water and cliffs in place haha!

I've only been a sub of yours for a couple of months, but whether your videos are 5 minutes or 5 hours long, I thoroughly enjoy playing alongside you whilst listening + watching your videos as it feels like we're just hanging out together like you say! I love it when content creators just talk amongst themselves, make decisions and include their audience in their lets play as it feels natural and relaxing. You have no reason to doubt yourself as everything you've created so far video wise has been 10/10 for entertainment and overall enjoyment. Your camera + audio equipment, in my opinion, are absolutely fine as they are, but of course if you're wanting to upgrade, that is completely your choice, but how you are now is PERFECTLY enough for us. As long as you feel good about what you have filmed, and are enjoying yourself, that is the main priority. I just wanted to remind you that everything you're doing is fantastic and you should give yourself more credit. Thankyou for being one of my comfort watches and for just being genuine and kind in all you do. Lots of love ♡

I reset to try hard mode and I think I lasted about a week before I couldn’t handle it anymore. I had a feeling ahead of time all the rules wouldn’t work for me and I was correct. All the bugs and fish I was accumulating waiting for Flick & CJ drove me the most crazy. They began to get in the way. I agree the rules are quite restrictive. I wasn’t having fun so I quit. Not sure if I’ll reset again for a better layout or name (I got Amaranth - like the flower) which isn’t terrible. Still unsure. Glad it has brought people back to playing tho. It’s a great idea, but agree not for everyone.

I love your videos and can’t wait for the next one to come out! I am currently playing hard mode and have a new appreciation for the game again. My island name is Sapphire so I’m going to try and use blues throughout my island as the color theme. The most challenging thing for me is creating paths. I have a new appreciation for all of the designers out there that give us such good codes to download.

so, Malin you said how you wouldn't have fun with hard mode because you still very much enjoy the game the way you play it - it's kind of the same for me even tho i play the game so differently from you and i love that for us!! :D i started my own "hardcore challenge" in September (i must admit i started labelling it hard mode to ride on the KZread hype wave xD with a little shame tho) and all the restrictions i'm putting on myself are mostly there to roleplay and play the game even more organically than i did before and make it more immersive (because shocker, for me it's most immersive when i play it "the way it was supposed to" xD). like for example instead of grinding villager photos by gifting villagers giant clams, i'm restricting myself to only gift them things they will actually like. the rules of nintentalks hard mode definitely reach their goal of making people slow down and apparently have fun again and some of them are the same that i have seen in past hardcore challenges and also am using myself, but i feel like some of them slow you down in a way that doesn't make any sense and he also didn't provide any logic besides "slow down the economy". obviously for example, plastering half of your island with crops is just as cheesy and immersion-killing as gifting your villagers tons of giant clams, but i see no logic or reason in only being allowed to sell fully grown crops, it's just random. as i said all of this does the trick of people having fun again, but it still kind of makes my head hurt how a large part of the acnh community needs such random rules and restrictions to make them have fun again. i feel like if we hadn't started to restrict ourselves in the first place with themes, instagram aesthetic, racing against eachother and all that, maybe we all would be more free-minded and creative still and like... for example have fun dressing up in a cute outfit for labelle or take a photo for a nook mile challenge or forage and farm on our island without letting some rule force us to do it. - thanks for reading my essay xD

I tried ACNH hardmode but it didn't work for me for the same reason you said. I found it too restrictive. I am using some of the rules that Nintentalk listed but just not the economy ones. I want to be able to play my way but I'm not doing TIs though because I rely on those too much and I think it's burning me out.

Exactly this! I started hard mode following every single rule, but I really miss certain villagers so I’m going to be amiiboing in my faves. The no TIs has been refreshing, and I actually get excited to see CJ and Flick now 😂

see, i feel like for a lot of people it would already do a lot to just play without cheating, because often that's the thing that burns people out and kills the fun, not like... selling things to the nooklings in a normal way :D
