Sometimes you can say that you know the person you're talking to isn't who you need to talk to to find out what you want to know, but you're hoping they might know someone that you can talk to through them to get to what you want to know and where you want to be. Maybe you can't talk to Attenborough but can you talk to Attenborough's foundation's secretary? You have a great advantage in that you already have a portfolio of fine work that you've done. An educational channel approaching a million subscribers is amazing! Find out how presenters find agents and get one. Then go to every audition you can. I got my first tech writer job when I was in college because I went to a party and schmoozed up my future boss explaining the kind of work I was doing in the kind of work I was looking to do. I got a job in my desired field and he got a cheap but talented to update his manuals. From there I worked at Adobe and intel. People are doing what you want to do. All you have to do is get counseled by those people or the people who know those people.

I suffer ptsd symptoms and it was very rough a few years back. Often, the calm narration in your videos was helpful to me. Now, i enjoy your work for the information. @@NaturalWorldFacts I was there, with my partner! 😄 (we both work in deep-sea palaeontology, she really liked the documentary as well!) We'd come from Cambridge, so not too far from London. We both thought it was a beautifully made doc, some of the deep-sea communities reminding us of fossil ecosystems we study! And you handled the audience questions really well😄 Again, really sorry I couldn't stick around to chat, but I'm sure we'll be able to meet up at some point!

This video (and channel) is utterly a triumph. The section covering the subterranean ecosystem is one of the most incredible things I've seen on KZread. Hats off to you, Leo.

Thank you so so much!!! Credit also to the AMAZING scientists who discovered the ecosystem. The fact it was found essentially by chance just blows me away - to my memory, they were conducting a separate experiment investigating larval dispersal which wasn’t working so well. They then decided on a whim to flip the rocks, and THAT’S when they discovered it. A whole new ecosystem, from flipping a rock. It took me back to my childhood, flipping logs and finding a hidden world of detritivores and amphibians nestled away in their own domain of deadwood. It’s the power of curiosity in its purest form!

I gasped out loud when I saw this!! I got my mom hooked on your channel. It's something we've been able to bond over lately. I hadn't realized she dreamt of being a marine biologist as a child. It's such a fascinating world for us. I can't wait to watch this with her soon

I've had an intense hyperfixation with sea creatures and marine biology documentaries since I was a kid and rewatching Finding Nemo for the 12th time in a row and was practically raised by David Attenborough's Our Planet. I'm neurodivergent and an artist and editor and soooo particular about the documentaries I watch but this has hit the damn spot and I'm obsessed with this channel now. I get so giddy when I see someone loving marine biology as much as you clearly do. Please keep this up, it is my favourite thing right now. This was better than many mass-produced documentaries. I absolutely love the pacing you use. One reason I always loved documentaries is because they are relaxing non-fiction stories that slowly progress. But it seems like most of the ones that are produced by networks now are fast-paced and overly dramatic, making them stressful rather than relaxing. Also, your video is stunningly beautiful.

Thank you for these videos. They genuinely have been getting me more interested in deep sea life, especially microfauna. Having something I can access that is calming, educational, and free has been really beneficial to my personal life as well and is also greatly appreciated.

Fantastic documentary! Absolutely brilliant, as always. I would love a version without the other voices, though, for easy listening 😴 not that they’re not interesting and provide a valuable point of view, but they don’t have your relaxing cadence.
