Natural World Facts

Natural World Facts

Welcome to Natural World Facts. I'm Leo, a Marine Biology undergraduate student with a passion for the natural world, a fascination with the deep sea, and a dream of working in the field of science-communication. This channel began as a passion project when I was 8 years old. Now, more than 10 years later, I'm still releasing fortnightly videos documenting a number of natural history topics, and I invite you to join me on my journey to discover all there is to know about our incredible planet.

Be sure to subscribe to be notified when I release a new video, and most importantly, enjoy. I hope you learn something new :)

Question: if a vent stops providing hot water do the creatures around it all die off? If a new vent forms elsewhere how do organisms get to it?

Imagine being the person or team of people that discovered this animal. Like, you know you are gonna find something weird, but you probably werent expecting to see whatever the hell this is. They are so weirdly cute too

This is what life on an alien waterworks would probably look like. Peering into the deep dark cold oceans is like peering into the depths of an alien exoplanet!!!

Imagine being a tube worm. All your life, living off fart flavored bacteria, or, at least, the bacteria inside you lives off the farts from the Earth, and the bacterium keeps you alive, too. Always in the dark. Can't even defend yourself from a dumb old crab. Oh, and then one day the Earth leans to the other side to let the farts out somewhere else, so you die because, like a Redditer, you can't live without inhaling farts every day.

Fantastic video but you sound like Michael Fielding so I can't get the image of Naboo from the Mighty Boosh as the person narrating this which honestly makes it so much better for me

I'm always suspicious when billionaire business people like Eric Schmidt (former Google CEO) and his wife start such enterprises. Yes there is a lot of great scientific discovery from it, but what are their less altruistic business motives? And could that cause detrimental effects to nature later on. I can't bring myself to trust billionaires like the two that started SOI. Too bad our governments don't throw this much money and resources into scientific research, we could achieve so much

The monotone audio plus scientific content works so well. I’ve watched twice within a week of discovery. Have you watch a nature program that frequently. Mention program if yes I’d be interested.

So that's what happened to all the drowned fishermen, crew, and passengers that went missing, in e.g. the Titanic sinking. They always said, "We're only finding the shoes because the bodies just dissolve, being under water so long." Now we know: it's all the different scavengers who made them disappear. The Titanic was found 73 years after sinking, so the process of human fall had already ended. 50 years before, they would have seen noumerous colonies of sea life concentrating around the bodies.
