Ocean Cay - Cruise Port Snorkeling - Private Island Paradise

I love the beauty of this island. This is a private island owned by MSC. MSC has turned this island into a marine preserve, but does it have any good snorkeling and reefs? Get ready to explore!
I have been to Ocean Cay 2 times and finally decided to get in the water. You can buy a snorkel set on the island, or rent one I believe, but I highly recommend bringing your own gear.
I loved what I saw. I found 2 beautiful heads of coral. Since I was filming with just my phone in a crappy waterproof case it didn't catch any of the color and was out of focus more than it was in, lol.
I saw so many fish, Including Steve, a 4-foot barracuda. He is now my friend and I hope to go visit him again. I also spotted 6 other barracudas ranging from a foot to my friend Steve. The Lobster hole was a fun spot too. Even though they might be there next I cant wait to look for them again
I am going back in a couple of months to explore some more and this I will be prepared, with my GOPRO, extra batteries, and underwater lights. I cant wait!!

Great video. Was just there last week, and apparently they put a handful of lemon sharks in the lagoon area (North and South Beach) that we swam with! Next time you’re there it’s worth grabbing some shots! 👍🏽

That’s awesome to know, I haven’t been back since the renovation. I almost booked a last minute cruise there this week but instead I booked one going to half moon cay. Now I wish I would have booked with MSC to see them. Hopefully I’ll get there soon. Thanks for the info!

Thanks so much, I’ve tried to go back 2 times since to redo it and to explore it some more because now I have better filming equipment but one trip was canceled due to high winds and the 2nd one was way to mercy from all the weather. Hopefully I can get back there soon, I love that island!

@@Snorktastic If you had to recommend only two of those spots to snorkel, which would you choose? I’ll be there in a week. I dislike only seeing one or two fish, as that happened to me when I visited Grand Cayman.

No, but I want to, it looks good, and you can see where they do it from the ship. I think that will be on a future visit there

Spot 1 was between 6 and 8 foot, not too deep and easy to dive , spot 2 was 5 to 6 foot deep. I’m sure the tides affect it a bit but it was a pretty good beginner area
