In the first one, when Matthews looks back at Yeager, he's not popping off, he's making sure Yeager was OK because he hit him with his bat in the follow through. You can see Yeager grabbing his hand.

Harry missed that one, but he was in the moment...I'm sure he corrected himself

I saw Sarge Matthews as a Cub in 1984. Fantastic hard-charging guy.

Great video. I was in attendance on a Saturday night 1983 when Matthew's hit the home run off Jerry Ruess. Also, in attendance 1993 Kim Batise walk off.

As a huge Dodger fan I remember watching this, Gary Mathews was like Babe Ruth in that series. He was on fire. This was a transition year for Dodgers, they mistakenly let Ron Cey and Steve Garvey go and promoted Greg Brock and Mike Marshall. Big mistake, Brock was a big time Bust and Marshal had only a few decent years. I think the Dodgers would have at least had a change with Garvey and Cey.

0:49 Watch carefully, Sarge hit Yeager in his throwing with his follow thru. Sarge checked to see if he was OK. Watch carefully, the bat hits Yeager, Matthews knows he hit him and looks at him. It wasn't a staredown. Yeager put his head down out of pain...Not embarrassment

Anyone notice Callison is not wearing a Phillies helmet? You can see the Phils cap under the Mets helmet around 5:00

Story has it that Callison left his helmet on the team bus en route to Shea Stadium....when called to bat, he borrowed the helmet of Met legend, Ed Kranepool..
