Dave, you and Fred are the real deal. Thanks for going through the build and a little back story of this truck. The early 80's front clip and the stance with the large tires is spot on. As for MT, I believe everything happens for a reason. Glad your on YT.

I like this rig because it's not just another warmed over Jeep, it's not something that someone stuffed an LS into, it's not jacked up crazy high, it's just the right amount of off road along with the right amount of usability to get to the trail and home. Bravo!

I love this build, I had a 1985 step side in high school I loved that truck. It was a 300 six 4x4, I think it was worked over by one of the local van shops because it was navy blue and had about 8 miles of pinstripe following every body line on the truck.

Maaaaan I’m still so sad DED is no more, but really looking forward to what you and Fred will be doing on here. I think this route will take from and highlight what I loved most about DED - watching you talk us through your ideas for each fab with more time spent explaining it which was a pretty limited thing to fit into a 30min episode. I love the suspension on that truck, it's so outside the box but seems to work really well. It's a rat rod/crawler/mini truck rolled up in one. Awesome job Dave I'm really digging the new channel.

@@thedirtheadshed My dad’s 02 TJ he babied and I got after he died. I never can do anything normal and I want to build it with as many Mopar parts as possible and put it on airbags with long suspension travel. I’m going to stretch it to be an LJ and use the TJ rear tub because I never liked how far forward the rear axle was moved in the LJ. I’m also planning to swap the AC compressor to be the on board air compressor and build some air tanks in either the rock sliders or rear bumper.

Agreed about the 90-91 front clip. I remember finding some great deals on them when I was looking for a 4x4 in high school, but I just couldn't bring myself to buy one lol. I ended up with a YJ at the time

I remember when car/truck magazines were a real thing .And I miss them very much. Back in the mid 80's I was lucky enough to be in Truckin' magazine. They did a story on the aftermarket header company that I worked for. 6=8.
