DISCLAIMER: The discussion of this video is type 2 diabetes. If you have diabetes, please investigate further before making drastic changes. This video is of course not meant to be a prescription or to be interpreted as medical advice. The aim is for it to be a stepping stone towards finding what works for your specific personal case. Being on a low carb diet or a keto diet will induce certain physiological changes that you'd do well to be aware of. For example most people think a ketogenic diet is accompanied by an inevitable "keto flu," but in most cases this can be avoided by taking some sodium. Many many people are experiencing improvements on a low carb or keto diet and/or a fasting protocal, but of course you need to consider how this would interact with whatever medications you may be taking or other factors that make your case unique.

    Now take that a step further and say, "I can't believe people believed fruits/vegetables were healthy." All plants are just sugar. You don't need any of them and none of them have the essential 9 amino acids that we can't produce or other vitamins like B vitamins. You can probably get away with eating fruits and veggies in moderation and just for flavor's sake, though.

Of course, that being a low IQ response it requires me not to verify and validate the studies you so conveniently listed for us. Perhaps What I've Learned could take a look at those and report back on whether they're valid or junk studies as the questionaire studies he mentions in this and other videos are.

    @MrFatilo So I just checked your sources. First one says that it used a study group of 7 people, so it is highly unreliable. The next 2 were published by the American Diabetes Association, which, although they may have been correctly administered studies, shows a bit of a conflict of interest given the publishers interest. The 4th sights nothing of diet but simply a non invasive method for measuring free floating fats in blood stream. In the conclusion it also says "Further human studies will be required to prove or disprove this theory and are also expected to continue to unveil novel therapeutic approaches for the treatment and prevention of insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes." Not very accurate sources I might say

    5 жыл бұрын

    GodleyX there are more than 100 types of cancers. Each of them affects each patient differently. Each patient reacts differently to the current treatment. Meaning it is almost impossible to find a specific cure that cures every type of cancer for every type of patient. Current treatments are harsh, but they can be very effective for many people. Currently, studies all around the world are being conducted to find cures/treatment for cancers. Everything from vaccines, animal venom, microrobots, and more. Researchers want to find a cure for cancers as much as we do or more. Not only because they are people just like us, with family that can get/have/had cancer or they themselves have been affected, but also because finding a cure for cancer will make them much more money than the current treatments. Remember that even if they find a cure, cancer wont disappear forever. People will still get cancer that needs to be treated, unless they find a way to prevent it, which is as hard or even harder than finding a cure. Even then, say they find a vaccine for cancer to prevent it, they will get money out of selling the vaccine. And vaccines are never 100% effective...

    [SOURCES: See description for a link to a PDF with all sources. Ketogenic studies are in that document.] Hey everyone, here's part 2/2 of the diabetes topic. This video makes similar conclusions as the last one, so I hope it doesn't feel repetitive, but I think it's important to cover this from different angles and this one shares several intriguing and important concepts that I wasn't able to get to in the last video. For some of my viewers the information in here might not be new - what I'm aiming for is a clear explanation that you can share with family or friends who haven't been exposed to this kind of information but could surely benefit from it. I was initially planning to answer a bunch of common concerns about low carb and keto like "Doesn't the brain need glucose? Isn't ketosis a diseased state?" and so on, but these have already been addressed in my other videos and a couple of them more than once.

Their calorie needs were much higher, and their struggle was usually securing enough food so that they wouldn't starve. Now that we have more food than we know what to do with, being smart about what we eat is the challenge. For example, drinking is very common in our western cultures because it is a quick source of calories that boosts morale. After the industrial revolution when drinking was just a hobby done for pleasure by sedentary people, it's negative effects were greatly magnified.

I did eat a bunch of carbs this past week since I was invited to a wedding but I quickly bounced back onto my fasting routine and clearing out the junk from my body. I honestly thought eating carbs would break my fasting routine, but I was able to quickly start fasting right off a high carb meal. It sort of blew my mind. Seems the main benefit of low carb is to get your body from sucking at burning fat to becoming an expert at burning fat. Seems you can still have carbs once in a while, as long as you don't do it all the time. I think too many carbs too often just makes our bodies lazy and it "forgets" how to burn fat.

  • @makokx7063

    @makokx7063

    4 жыл бұрын

    Were you 600lbs? Because if not Keto/IF would not have done that for you. Actually you would have had to have eaten nothing for 2 months to lose that much weight. Say 3,000 cal /day expenditure. (would also shrink to match lower metabolic needs as weight loss progressed) 2 months = 60 days * 3,000cal = 180,000 cals 1 lb fat = 3,500 cals. 180,000/3,500 = 51.4 lbs of fat Not all fat loss but also water weight and muscle loss also occurred so 55lbs of “weight” loss would certainly be possible but only if you ate absolutely nothing or had a little food and exercised like a fiend. If you are being honest the only thing I could imagine is you did an insane hydration process consuming tons and tons of carbs and liquid (1L water = 2.2lbs so 24 case of 330ml beers would be over 17lbs) jumped on the scale, then shed 20lbs of water weight after.

    Low carb doesn't work for me since I eat lots of fruits and can't imagine my life without them. I never juice them, I eat them whole or in smoothies btw. What worked wonders for me, is that I gradually started eating during a 4-5 hour period every day except maybe weekends. I also stopped consuming dairy products (except the occasional piece of cheese or butter), sodas and I only have sweets once in a while. Fat started to disappear quite soon after these changes and I'm not doing any really heavy exercise. If I had to give a piece of advice would be to cook more, consume less processed food, always try to have carbs with dietary fiber and if you can, fast. There are a lot of ways to do it.

    The key is calories in vs calories out. Eat keto all you want, if by the end of the day you eat 3000kcal a day and do no physical activity, you're gonna get fat. Intermittent fasting is just another way to restrict calories, especially on a keto diet where there's tons of calories from fats.

On the same day that I watched it on Oct 1 2018, I started a low carb high fat diet with intermittent fasting. By Halloween I had dropped 15 pounds, and I dropped another 15 pounds by April 2019. The first week was hard, otherwise it was and remains effortless to stay at a BMI of 22. When you're insulin sensitive, it's normal to go 8-16 hours between meals without being controlled by hunger. If I were to do a redo, I would have told myself to reduce vegetables and increase the cheese and meat.

    The low-carb ideology (like other restrictive ideologies) leads to high failure levels (majority people who try any diet/ideology fail). What anyone should start with, when it comes to carbs, is decreasing added sugar in their daily diet. Excessive added sugar consumption corelates with diabetes type 2 twice as strongly as obesity.

    The way you eat (however, you eat) must be sustainable over a lifetime. The worst thing that you can do to your body is to yoyo (weight down and up and down and up ...). I have lost weight slowly, sustainably. It took me 5 years to go from 280 lbs. to the current 207 lbs to 211 lbs. I do use not exactly intermittent fasting, but time-restricted feeding (I fast 16 hours each 24 hours); however, I do not do it religiously and on Sundays, I do eat whatever I want and whenever I want. Still, I do not try to kill myself with food. I estimate that on Sundays, I do eat in between 3,000 and 3,500 calories. I do control my added sugar levels and try not to overeat carbs (I am not restricting carbs, tough).

Pills helped when I had the panic attacks, but not with preventing them in the first place. Then I started carnivore diet because there was a lot of anecdotal evidence for it helping with anxiety and depression and you can imagine my surprise when the anxiety was gone in the first week. Now I only get panic attacks when I eat too many carbs. I incorporated some fruit and veg (max 20g of carbs per day) in to the diet and the anxiety hasn’t returned. Anything over that brings it back. Same thing happened for my fiancé. Took a bit longer for her, about 3 weeks, but now it’s also gone

    this, its like people just want to be mad at something. Also as I always say, simply cutting out added sugars(and juices, potentially even cutting fruits entirely out at the most extreme) is enough for a lot of people to see improvements in diet. Also a lot of people buy crap bread that has added sugars and don't realize it, so while it may be "whole grain" bread it can still be awful for you. Rice is always a safe bet as rice is just rice. But yes, high fat+high carb is a recipe for disaster, that is why Keto is higher fat, lower carb. There are many roads that lead to the same destination and there is no one size fits all scenario, keto/low carb is one that helps a lot of people, but others have ways that help them. That being said, a general caloric decline could be the simple solution for the person eating 2 chocolate cakes a day.
