    I love that you can mix races. This is a great use of the minis I’ve got that have been sitting for too long

    I like the mix and match nature of the army composition. It makes so much sense for a new range of minis, and also adds depth to the campaign world.

    I'm really looking forward to this. I wanted something with more structure than Dragon Rampant and with more list building freedom than Kings of War. Very excited.

    What is a standard model count for this game? Where does it really come into its own and where does it start straining under too many models, units or whatever?

    People are loving building up forces for this game. But so far not much sign of any battle reports. Would like to check some out an see how the gameplay feels. I'm sure it's just 'Lockdown' conditions stopping people playing the game at the moment. But look forward to seeing some battle reports show up.

    The table appears to be covered by a grassy flocked cloth? does anybody know where to get one of those?

  • @Perchpole

    Charges appear to remain a problem with all mini rules. Why does the charging unit always stop in contact with the defending unit? The weight and momentum of heavy cavalry units (in particular) would just blow the defenders aside and underfoot.

    If CD =# of dice, why do the wolf riders (CD 2) only roll 5 dice or 1dice per figure, if the max dice you can roll is 5 what's the point in a unit having a "CD" of more than 1 ?

  • @Joooooooooe11

    @Joooooooooe11

    It allows you to roll more combat dice when you have fewer than 5 figures. If you have a unit of wolf riders that gets whittled down to only 2 models, you are still rolling 4 combat dice to represent the ferocity of both rider and mount attacking. It also matters when defending attacks on the flank where you multiple the number of combat dice by the number of complete ranks.

    I can almost here Games Workshop panicking. A lot of us who got screwed when they killed the old armies and setting have been looking for a new game. This sounds like it's going to be my choice, unless of course Warhammer: The Old World really knocks my socks off.

    @@Vlad65WFPReviews Are you SURE? Most figure removal-based rules also bank on the reduced footprint for reduced units. If you leave "dead" figures on table they take up space preventing other figures being placed there.

  • @MichaelTE

    Yea, individual figure removal is also a hard pass for me. It's outdated and a really horrible way to track casualties. If you're doing a mass combat game go with entire element wounds or morale counters or something. At least it's not per-model attacks and everything else.

    I'm not a fan of alternate activations in old world style games, it doesn't fit. Armies would move in formation and be much more coordinated, so it doesn't make sense to have individual units moving in isolation.
