OASIS: Lost Tales with Paolo Hewitt
Paolo Hewitt was Oasis' official biographer, DJ and companion on the road and in the studio during their 1990's heyday. Join me to hear some never-before told stories of his memories of each member of the band during that time.

One of the best channels for music and Oasis in general! Keep it up James, you never fail to impress!
I met Liam in 1996 in London, and I asked him about a kid I knew who claimed to have went to school with him. I told Liam the kid’s first name, but couldn’t remember his surname, so I described him instead. And while I was still trying to remember his full name, Liam came out with it. I couldn’t believe it. I knew someone who knew Liam as a child and adolescent. Blown away is an understatement! Anyway, the last thing Liam said to me was, “Say hello to Paul.” So I did. And as I did, I couldn’t believe what I was saying. “Err...Liam Gallagher told me to say hello.” Mental.

As an Oasis fan, your content knocks me out every time
I read both books a few years ago... I remember hearing about him on the mtv show.... Mad fer it..... It was a great time the 90s
Great video! Funnily enough Paolo is my mum’s ex boyfriend! They met at melody maker. Great to hear his stories. Cheers James
I love Paolo, he's a good man, oh and BTW, I was the guy that organized the 'party' after the Astoria gig, that he talks about at 1.40 .It was the launch party for Definitely Maybe. I was friendly with Weller and Noel and think I might have actually made that introduction. You can read all about the party on page 153 of my memoir, Too High Too Far Too Soon, available on Amazon and Kindle etc.

Sweet interview - thanks James
Fantastic interview James. What a lad Paulo is.
I had no idea i was such a fan of Oasis, i'm just addicted to these videos! So well put together and presented.
Great interview James I have seen a few of Paolo’s and this is the best one yet.
Brilliant content as always. Worth a watch for any Oasis fan
Great interview - cheers!
The best thing I've seen on youtube in a long time. Great stuff James. Loved it, for me it could have gone on for hours.
Nice one. Wish it was longer, must get the books.
Surely a NG or LG interview is only a matter of time! Great work as always, James, these stories are fantastic. The one about Bonehead's posh neighbour had me cackling!
Top interview James keep up the good work mate
Very interesting stories I'll buy a couple of the books too. Cheers James 👍🎸
Brilliant interview💪
Great interview, i had to instantly rewatch it, haha. If he thought it was all over during the Be Here Now era God knows what he made of the next 10 years of the band
Your videos are addicting- not just how you share exclusive content, but you go about it so carefully and respectfully to the people involved.
loving your videos lately, keep it up!
Love your channel James great stuff first oasis channel were a few subjects I didn't already know great content and a great guy mate keep it up hope you and the family are well brother mad for it 🔥🙏💙
Your videos & Oasis content is superb mate 🙌
James your a legend mate keep coming up with best oasis stuff when are you interviewing the gallagher Brothers and rest of oasis band or crew love it mate 👍 keep it up
Sad to hear how all the excitement of being in a band like Oasis, eventually became like a regular a job you have to attend to, during the BHN Tour. I actually think Noel sounded at his best during that Tour. But maybe part of that loudness and feedback was just anger coming out through his guitar… Great interview!
Brilliant little insight 👏
I didn’t know that Guigsy and Paolo wrote the Robin Friday book. He was the George Best of lower league football in the 1970’s. He should have been one of the best players in the world but his lifestyle and that put paid to that. The greatest footballer you never saw is a great description of him. Great interview as always. The quality of this channel is unsurpassed.
insane video mate!
Very insteresting James !
Great video mate
Great interview James👍🏻 You let your guests do their thing and not make it about you which a lot of people do. Defo gonna grab them 2 books. Keep the great content rolling
Ah, the dreaded separate cars! Really interesting that Paolo thinks it's the tour that broke them when those gigs were some of their best. Great work again James.

More great content James mad fer it , ever thought about doing a Q&A live on your channel ?
Insightful!
Hi James, be great if you could do a video about the story of Mike flowers version of "wonderwall" if I remember correctly it came out about 3 or 4 months after the original Oasis version, I'm sure noel or Liam actually said they new about the Mike flowers version before and at one point considered letting Mike release his jazz version first
His book about Robin Friday is probably up there with the greatest books ever written about football ⚽️
I’ve always regarded Paolo Hewitt as a hanger on.
@texaspete7748
6 ай бұрын
Yeah but by Noel’s invitation. Would you have turned that down?!! That said, by 97 /98 there were probably a whole gang of hangers on all just trying to get a piece of the action. Think Noel ditched the lot of them when he quit drugs
I’ve read the first book but never the second. I must rectify that.
Brilliant!
I can only imagine some of the stories that guy must have.
First class 👍
Went to see them at the Duchess in Leeds , think it cost me £2.60 Whiteout were a joint top liner! Think there was a bit of aggro between the them , they were a Jock faces band. Then at the free Heineken festival in Preston ,The Boo Ridley’s were headlining, followed them up and down the country , went to Brighton and LA’S. RIDE finished it for me!
My Reading supporting pal gave me the Robin Friday book, i'd forgot that was PH and Guigs!
Nobody makes better oasis content than you James. Absolutely no one.
Top writer
Very rare you see a genuine online. Paolo's the real deal, I'm off to bookland.
it's interesting how Paolo Hewitt describes the DM/Morning Glory eras as the most special and fun, and those which the band looked back on most fondly, and the Be Here Now tour was actually quite a dark/depressing time, just inflated on its own self-importance, way too chaotic and where the band spent all their time reminiscing abt the golden old days. Although Noel does great PR for this period, and claims it was the most fun and spectacular tour he ever went on, I am more inclined to believe Paolo Hewitt's account...and suspect Noel is aggrandising it for his own purposes and the purposes of securing his band's legacy.
Pretty much all journalists I can’t abide but this guy really got the band and comes off a cool guy I’ve seen him on plenty of other band related vids he’s appeared in like the who and small faces and there’s nothing pretentious about him unlike so many other journalists
Quality
Fun fact: In Germany, the book "Getting high" was called "Die Arroganz der Gosse" which translates to "The arrogance of the gutter". Isn't that lovely? :D
James, do you have a black eye at the start of this video?
Just proves how little we know about oasis… be here now era of gigs were some of there best! But behind the scenes we didn’t see. I guess that’s what you get when you combine having a massive ego with being the biggest in the world!
Both of Paolo's books are among the best on the band. Though it should be noted that his lack of a relationship with Noel these days is more to do with Paolo writing a warts and all book on Weller..... The book didn't paint Weller in the best of lights which ended their friendship, naturally with Weller and Noel being close Paolo isn't on Noel's Christmas card list these days
@texaspete7748

I didn’t know that! I just assumed Noel cut paolo off when he quit drugs and cut off a lot of others who were hanging on.
Paolo Hewitt professional Mod.
Balloons do have a certain smell about them lol
Lovely fellow Paolo but in the end all he did was propigate the false narrative that Noel's catchy choruses came from football fans singing at Maine Road rather than from where they really came from, which is The Real People.
Another blinder. 👍👊
The weird thing is is that Noel has said that this was his favorite tour….
@texaspete7748
6 ай бұрын
Yeah he did, great point. I wish James had asked Paolo why if all the fun had gone then why did he think Noel had still said it was his favourite time in the band. Be interested to hear.
Scott McLeod would be a good one too.
I do feel when Bonehead and Guigsy left that was the end of Oasis that sold millions of records and were embraced like no band in Britain since The Beatles. They changed the logo and employed Gem Archer and Andy Bell no disrespect to them but lost that gang mentality or as you put it James a bunch of lads having fun :)
Taking Halloween a Bit to serious 🤣😂
