So my story to this song....I moved into a flat with my dad in 1999. In the attic I found some cassettes with the masterplan album recorded on it. I fell in love with oasis and the album, this song struck every chord with me. That was 1999. A few years later I started work and met a girl who turned out to be one of my best friends in life. The coincidence was that she lived in the flat before me and had left those tapes in the attic. We have been best friends ever since. These are the synchronisities we should look for in life....I even wrote a book about my childhood and included all of the stories like this that have happened to me over the years. Music was my escape so it was important to me from a really young age.

We have this joke in my family that I'm a 47 year old stuck in a 11 year old body as I talk and act like an old man. XD

How can a song be so depressing and uplifting at the same time? Noel may be a rockstar but he really knows how to pull on the heartstrings when it counts.

Died last week aged only 52. This is the theme tune to prob her most well know series that she wrote and starred, The Royale Family.

Can name at least 25 songs better than Wonderwall (and that's not me pissing on popular tracks, Wonderwall is genuinely good if overplayed, but there are at least 10 Bsides including this that are better, and at least another 10 underrated ones on albums. Gas Panic is one of my favourite songs of all time).

Beautiful melody has always helped my son drop off to sleep, tonight being no exception. We’re away from home and he’s struggling to fall asleep “I want half the world away on mummy”. Eight bars in and he’s in the land of nod. Now three years old he’s been listening to it since in the womb! ‘Choose a song you won’t get bored of to settle baby to sleep’ I was told as a parent to be. There was only one choice, must have played it 1000s of times in his lifetime already. Thank you Oasis.

Every time I listen to Oasis it brings me back to 1995 at Sheffield Arena where I watched them live , they smashed every song they sang 100% ❤

Listening to this song during lockdown in Cambodia when I wasn't able to see my Filipino children for almost 3 years, gave a whole new meaning to the words. It didn't matter how close the Philippines was to Cambodia, during the lockdown they may have been "Half the world away". 6 months ago the lockdown finally ended and I have since been reunited with my sons and I still listen to this song every single day.

Probably my favourite ever Oasis song, always calms me down and helps improve my mood... and that's priceless to me.

listening to oasis whilst on a long car drive will refresh your mind i swear.. this earth is so beautiful and Oasis's music is incredible, put the two together and oh boy your in heaven. try it

Why can't people appreciate both the original and Aurora's version? There are way to many ways a song can be interpreted and sung, so why start hating on anyone who makes a cover? Oasis will earn tons of royality money from John Lewis, and I think they are perfectly happy with that.

+Google are you fucking kidding me why would you let me pick such a retarded username There is nothing objectively better about either version, both are entirely competent performances, so obviously it comes down to personal preference and I dunno, I think the cover is more wistful, which suits the lyrics better for me.

One of the best Oasis tunes ever. The melody is absolutely amazing.

I listened to aurora cover for years, i'm hearing this for the first time, and i'm loving it.

People really do say they are here because they like oasis as if it matters why someone is here. Just let people enjoy the song, it doesn't matter why they listen to it as long as they are respectful of other people's opinions.

The sound of any Oasis song is amazing....amazing guitar tone, amazing voice, the bass lines, drumming and songwriting. No wonder why Oasis ruled.

This song just makes me feel proud to be British and reminds of how British this song is

The Aurora cover made me cry like the little girl i used to be. The original is just as good. They both hit me in the feels.

You can’t “leave this planet”.. after wrote this masterpiece your voice will still forever with us.

This is what is amazing about Oasis, I've been sat here with my guitar for about an hour and I've learned 4 amazing Oasis songs... Making simple music beautiful is an art, McCartney and Lennon did it, these boys sure did it too.

I'm ancient at 64! Big Lennon and Beatles fan. First heard this song sung by Auruora. Worth a listen. Prob the best Oasis song for me. Excellent all round.

It's 2024, i'm set up in another country, the old man lets me know he's not got long left. He's the last bit of family I've got and here I am learning the guitar so I can play one o his favorite songs when he eventually goes, the man's mad about the royle family, after he's gone there's no one else. Thanks Oasis.

This song is so, so beautiful and it fits Noel's voice so much 😭
