Idk it's got it's fair share of acclaim, if you know the band you probably know the song. It's not Wonderwall levels or anything but the most popular song is rarely the bands best. Nirvana is almost solely known for Teen Spirit, Blur for Song 2, and Oasis for Wonderwall. It's just the way it is.

Bit of trivia: Noel wrote this song on a guitar given to him by the Smiths - Johnny Marr. Marr wrote "Panic" on this guitar which uses a slide guitar technique, hence "Slide away".

I just can't comprehend how beautiful this song is, best song ever.

Probably one of the most underrated songs out there if not most underrated.

Ok, lets get a little deep for a second boys. When you think about it, this is a song of desperation. Noel wrote it from a perspective of a guy (maybe himself) begging a girl to just slide away with him from society. He tells her of the wonders they could experience - chasing the sun and begs 'let me be the one who shines with you'. Noel gets pretty emosional when performing this live, as he knows in all reality, its impossible for them to slide away - it just wont happen. But still he dreams - he pleads, he fucking screams out of desperation ... Slide Away!

Actually a great romantic song. Noel was once asked if it was, and he refused to answer. Sometimes songs take us where we want to go, or always are, but where others can't be. But we all have that someone we want to slide in with us... the lucky ones, they're with us now, chasing the sun. We're their one.

I was there at loch Lomond when the two of them put their differences aside and played this song. They embraced and the world was glad for a moment.

@@cream2870 IMO YES!! 100% I loved them then and still love them now, still listen to B-Sides and Live gigs all the time and I still find new ones on occasion that I hadn't heard before thanks to YT Uploads

It's July 22nd 2022, I haven't listened to a song by another band this whole month. Oasis is all I wanna hear, this the best song they ever made and personally the best iv ever heard. Live is just as good!

Noel says this the best song he’s ever wrote. And he’s right. It’s a fukin tune. Takes me straight back my teens in high school when me and my mates all had retro Adidas tracksuit tops with the 3 stripes down the arms. Good times 👊🏽

This tune makes me "slide away" right back to 1994... what a year!!!

Best thing about Oasis is their music feels like it's never aged.

One of the best romantic songs ever (for me).

Have loved oasis since I was 9, all the other little girls loved take that and I was rocking out to this!! 32 now and still love it just as much. Best band ever. Would love to go see them live just one more time!!
