Oakley Drt5 Helmet Review
Спорт
Here is a detailed look at our impressions of the Oakley DRT5 mountain bike helmet. While it has plenty of great things going for it, it just didn't quite tick all the boxes to make it a great recommendation.
We're also giving one of these helmets away, along with lots of other giveaways at our Patreon channel here. / theloamwolf

thanks for pointing the headache induced by the boa. I was trying to figure out how I got one on a long ride using my Aro 3. At first I thought I was having a heat stroke from riding under the sun.
Great review. I found the BOA system forked great for me. The one thing that really didn’t work was the silicone sweat guard. But I am also hair challenged. I bought a sweathawg helmet liner and works great. Very happy with this helmet. Doesn’t make me look like a mushroom head
Keeping it real. Keep up the good work!

Thank you!
Good review as always 💯. Got the helmet for 150$ over here in Germany. I'm keeping it even though I got the same issue with the strings.

Thanks Johnny and bummer to hear you're also having the same issue.
Nice review sweat gutter is a big plus for me But the boa and the headaches are a let down
Great review, looking at this over the Troy Lee.

That visor removable?
That sweat channel sounds like it would be amazing! I always have sweat pouring down and getting all over my glasses and I HATE that!

Yeah man. It actually works quite well! The only bummer is the headaches it gives me on long rides because of the localized pressure of the single BOA strand... But, it may not be an issue for you?

@@TheLoamWolf I have never seen a helmet with that before. So cool! I'm actually looking to buy a full face helmet. I'm thinking about the Fox Pro Frame. Would be cool if that helmet had something similar but as far as I know it does not. I have not had any issues with headaches caused by helmets that I know of. 👍👍
had a hard faceplant with this helmet, worked great helmet survived, only my chin took a beating the solar thingi saved my face.
What type of shades are those
Sweat gutter!💯
i bought this helmet, it doesnt have enough padding inside the helmet which makes it start hurting after wearing it a long time. Wish i would of saw this review first, before buying it.

I thought the same when I first got it but it comes with extra padding in the box which I found a month after I got it. and Love it with the extra padding.

@@MichaelTandy11 hey man, pleeeease help, how do you install the additional padding? Can find any manuals and it doesn't seem intuitive at all :/

@@piotrkalinski518 you have the sweat pad for the front, and then the other little pads have little Velcro patches inside the mips cradle, unless they have changed it.
Suppose I'll comment here, since this is the top video when searching for the "Drt5". I've owned this helmet over a year now, and considering picking up another. I have the Minnaar grey, and looking for a black. The BOA retention system, sunglass landing pad, and side of head fit for a pair of Radar EV's, is second to none. I wear my EV's outside the chin strap, it's ultra comfortable, and the retention string allows for a very comfortable sunglass ear stem fit, with no hindrance when taking my glasses on and off. Regarding the sweat gutter... it's not that great. When worn, you'll notice the helmet is uncomfortable and heavy feeling. Probably why this guy got headaches. Sure, on short rides you'll notice a reduction in sweat dripping into your field of view... but the comfort of the Xstatic sweat pad is 100x better than the functionality of the sweat gutter. My advice is that you wear a sweat band, and ring it out a couple times during your ride. Anyone as over caffeinated as I am while MTB'ing knows the struggle with sweat... and although the sweat gutter seems like a good idea, it comes at a cost of comfort. I still think given the BOA, and sunglass landing pad this helmet is the best half shell out there.

Did you try Oakley?
+1 on too tight on sides - just got mine and am returning it as it will definitely cause headaches on the longer rides. Shame because it's a nice looking helmet.

I had the same first impression, but then tried to tilt the helmet a little backwards, and then tighten the BOA, and that helped right away. Dont know if it fixes the issue for u but guess its worth a try.
What kind of grease do you use for your hair?

Anyone know how to get a replacement nut/screw that holds the visor? Oakley's customer service is terrible..

@@mischoutztomi9047 Oakley finally reached out and had me send in my helmet for review. After about two months off me contacting them. It shouldn't be this difficult.

I'd just go to a hardware store with the other nut/screw and try to find it. Your right though, that is very frustrating.
Great content man, if you make it to the inland North West hit me up, we can collaborate on some content.. happy riding.. gained a sub here

I wear a 56cm helmet.
Thats the dopey dope
hard to believe they left a bare "string" to tighten up on your head...? (saw that in the pictures and was like... what?) next...
Hopefully that sweat gutter becomes a thing everywhere!

If this isn’t your “go-to” helmet, which one is? Sorta disappointed to hear that the BOA concept not being plausible. :/
