    Yea they are being sensitive. The reason is Oakland gets a lot of hate in the Bay Area and it's actually really annoying. My mother was born in Oakland and I Iived there as a kid and later as an adult while attending college. I also have lived in Berkeley and San Francisco. I still spend a lot of time in Oakland for various reasons. The reason people are sensitive is that people on the peninsula will look down on Oakland and are quite ridiculous about it. even if you mention that there are good neighborhoods that are really nice, they will respond "that's not really Oakland". they want to define it to meet their absurd stereotype. So people who actually live in Oakland get sensitive about that. Particularly when someone wants to show the hood or homeless but ignore the abundant good that is in Oakland. I get that. I also understand most of the people here being sensitive dont' understand that this is something you do in every city. I saw your video on the Tenderloin. It would have been good to contrast International with Temescal, Uptown, Lake Merrit, rockridge, or many other good districts in Oakland. peace!

    My dad started working for the City of Oakland Parks Department in the early 1960s. He trimmed most of the Oakland trees among other things. He always said that Oakland was one of the most beautiful cities. The people of Oakland saved his life. The strap that supported him when he climbed trees broke and he fell to the ground the old chainsaws didn't shut off fell on his leg and hit an artery. Near the very so called bad neighborhood people always talk about. The neighbors and passer-bys all stopped to help my father until help could arrive. They tied his leg with a belt near the artery calmed him and prayed for him. He never forgot that. The scar was massive but he lived. The local newspaper put it in the paper. Oakland will always be special to me

    Well, did he stop at the Hegenberger one? That’s where most of Oakland’s theft crime happens. Like about 50-60% at this point. One of the worst for car break-ins. They watch to see if people from the airport leave stuff in cars and target rentals specifically. Why would he leave his rental car with unattended things inside? They target that area cause people flying in from the airport often leave their stuff in cars. Sorry but locals know not to leave things in their cars, especially in the airport area in the Hegenberger Plaza.

    @@Richnrollinbeats the 2 bedroom in Temescal would indeed be over $3000 today however mainly due to massive gentrification in the area since the year 2000. Inflation alone wouldn't put the rent anywhere near $3000 however. Again it would only be $900 something based on inflation alone. But I was talking more like 35 years near the peak of a big rent spike before things cooled down. We actually paid the equivalent to less $700 today 39 years ago when we first moved in.

    This video is so full of inaccuracies and blanket generalizations. Oakland has a lot of really nice areas and you talk about being from Florida? Well, Oakland is MUCH wealthier than Miami if we're talking about Median Income, so go and figure out your low incomes and inferior college education before you come here and talk about our problems. How's that for stereotyping?

  • @FLORIDAHOODVLOGS

    @FLORIDAHOODVLOGS

    First of all, your retarded at best. When you factor in Housing cost and taxes, people in Louisiana are better off than someone in Oakland. Oakland is covered in gangs and graffiti with a murder rate about 3X higher than Miami. Miami is one of the safest cities its size, oakland is one of the most dangerous. Miami has beaches, and warm weather.. oakland has graffiti and gangs. Statistically to try to compare Oakland to anything other than Detroit is absurd. Oakland is KNOWN for crime, miami is known for palm trees and beaches. The idea you could even compare these two cities shows how far up the back san fran has taken you

Completely avoids the beautiful Lake Merritt, Jack London and the Estuary, the hills, Leona Heights, the Observatory, the non-tourist Chinatown area. Yeah, poor people always live in the lowlands and often in old apartments. Misses all the new buildings and renovations happening in the downtown area. Middle of the day, No chance to see the many Farmers Markets, Friday Nights Off the Grid at the Oakland Museum, weekend soccer games on Wood Street, City Slickers Community Gardens. Amazing hiking trails, ferryboats, gondolas trams at the zoo, archery range, symphony, can't be enjoyed from inside a locked car. Didn't interact with any Oaklanders, so no contact with the very diverse community. Could have had Eritrean, Ethiopian, Korean, Japanese, Mandarin, Szechuan, Mongolian, Mexican, Guatemalan, Nicaraguan, Vietnamese, Soul Food, Afghan, Cambodian, Burmese, Chicken and Waffles, Macaroni and Beers, Middle Eastern (Kosher, Halal, Iraqi, Persian and more), Thai, French, Spanish, Italian, Brazilian (and more) types of food, breweries, pubs, clubs and cafes, vibrant LGBTQ, artist, activist, and music communities. Could have found any religious, agnostic, or atheist community. The hometown of the Vice President and of the Black Panthers. Strong Unions, motorcycle clubs, street racing and so much more. Too bad you missed all the Warrior celebrations with more than a million peoplein the streets. Just sayin.

I also didn't mention significant protests that happen here. Also, forgot to mention that the Port of Oakland is a major gateway for products coming from eastern countries and being sent by truck, sea, air and rail across the U.S. I didn't mention the boom in construction (commercial and residential) and the tech workers who have driven up the cost of housing. Also, the huge amount of beautiful and meaningful murals in the city that came out of the efforts of the city council to help some of the taggers shift to jobs where they are acknowledged and paid for their talents while building legit reputations.

    30 minutes into the video you went to the murder dubs. You went to one of the worst parts of Oakland. I grew up in Oakland 37 years. You got lucky there my friend. You were in my hood at the end of the video.

    @@FLORIDAHOODVLOGS I felt bad at the end because you were trying to get away but you ended up in worse situation. They put the speed bumps there because people were driving too fast and the prostitutes are there now. It's gotten worse. 🙁
