DarkShroom - not necessarily true.... there’s a lot of criminals that were some of the greatest at breaking in, stealing/burglary, bypassing security alarms, hacking accts etc etc that did it for years and after getting caught so many times decided to change their life around and work with companies to help improve systems so it wouldn’t be done as easy as it once was. Heck there’s even a TV show where the main dude was a professional burglar and not he re-enacts situations to show every day person what they can do to ensure their house is most secure from break ins.

Your playing by their payout ratios that they set. Just because you lose at a game that has a low winning rate, that doesn't mean that they are criminals. Yes some of their tactics of keeping people playing longer is a little morally questionable. But I'm some cases, supermarkets use the same tactics.

I'm not a fan of Apple, but they've got the right idea. Some kid hacked an IPhone a while back when they were new, and they payed the kid a bunch of money to find out how he did it so they could fix it. They're also currently offering 1 million to anybody who can hack the iPhone, that's a damn good security system if they're willing to take information from anybody who can beat them to fix problems.

When I was living in the state hotel they use this black box to cover the hand shackle chains made buy a guy who was also living in the state hotel. They bought his device and use it to this day but when news got out inmates they found the guy dead one day. So the state paid him a bunch of money for the device and his family sued the state because of what happened.

I personally know Tommy, he was an unqualified genius at many things. The authorities had no idea what he was doing until years after he started. I have no sympathy for the casinos they only play by their own rules that favor themselves heavily.

I also found it very interesting that Tommy was the original inventor of the "credit blaster" type device. I know it's stealing but these casinos don't give even a remotely fair chance when it comes to those machines. All I see, constantly, are SS retirees losing their lives to those things. Very sad..

He reminds me of me. As a kid I would take apart cassette tape players, vcr's, radios... And find uses out of switches, lights, and caps & resistors. If he had used his intelligence as a way to help casinos beat cheats he'd be a millionaire today. I have zero sympathy for casinos and believe they are corporate thieves and cheats themselves. There is no justice in the casino game, it's just like banking and loan offices - the outcome is to keep you losing and paying, while they win win win.

Not with classic games, anyway. But by applying some theory... If everyone pays the casino to play each other (and win money off each other), the house still wins, as does one of the players at the expense of the remaining players. For example, if the Casino is the bank and you remove the $200 for passing go, Monopoly would make a decent game to make the house money.

People play for the thrill of getting "lucky". Its not a scam if you knowing and willingly choose to play the game.

I think gambling is a strange thing that we humans do, it's not exactly all there rational or logical activity and it's a game where your chances of winning are slim to none and for the life of me. I don't know why any sane person would enjoy it? Because it's an activity where you lose large amounts of your financial resources but I guess P.T Barnum was right when he said a sucker is born every minute. And if it wasn't for suckers there would be no Las Vegas praying on them.

This is a perfect example of scammers getting scammed

A - You're right, Carmichael is an electronic genius that knew how to repair electronics on TV's, which is probably more complex than a slot machine. I lived in Tulsa around that same time and a guy I used to know offered to sell me a tool invented by this guy, which they called a monkey paw. They were selling the tool for 16 thousand dollars and gave you free training to show you how to use it. Apparently they had slot machines set up in a warehouse for training. He said they worked in teams and would have people wearing long trench coats to surround the machine and block the casinos cameras. He guaranteed me to be a millionaire if I bought the device, but I didn't buy it, due to fear of getting caught and going to jail. The slot machines are rigged and the casinos are cheating us anyway, so it would not have bothered my conscience to have done this, but the risk of going to jail was not worth it to me. These guys made millions before they were caught and are most likely set for life, so maybe I should have done it. One guy I heard about got caught on a riverboat in Indiana using one of these devices and only got probation. I think the key to using these devices was staying out of Las Vegas or Atlantic city, where the penalties for cheating can be life sentences. In other states it's like a slap on the wrist misdemeanor about the equivalent of stealing a piece of bubble gum.

Card counting should be absolutely legal. If you do it perfectly, which is damned near impossible in today's environment (according to the MIT folks that did it), it gives you almost exactly the same edge over the Casino's that they have built in over you. Cry me a river, casino owners! You say you lost money on ONE GUY in the casino that night??? Big farking deal, what was that 0.5% of your nights ill gotten gains?. Pathetic. I’m glad Carmichael did this to Vegas casinos. It’s no wonder that every time I play at one of their slot machines I always loose. The chances of anyone hitting a jackpot are slim to none! Good job Carmichael!!!!

I watched "the invention of lying last night", if you've not seen it, the premiss is that nobody lies, on the casino wall there is a sign which says the odds favour the house, and then they cry when somebody figures out how to reverse that in the punter's favour.

Lord Flashheart for me, I see it as they are praying on human nature. Yes you are absolutely right no one is holding a gun to their head forcing them to go, and yes ultimately it is your fault when you lose money at the casino or end up with a gambling addiction. That being said it’s still a sleazy business. They are making money off of someone else’s demise as every single game is rigged in their favor, but I am not sitting here saying that casinos are the devil. I merely stated that it’s very hypocritical of them to call someone who found a way to beat them a cheater and that I don’t feel bad that someone ripped off their slot machines. That’s all.

Always cracks me up that Casinos don’t think they’re cheaters. It’s a cheater vs cheater warfare in Vegas.

In the UK back in 83 it was possible to flip a 2p coin up through the reject slot of a 50p change slot. This slot gave 5 x 10p coins. A good return. A match stick could be used to be able to insert a 2p coin into a 10p coin slot so you could play for less.

So, +Zim, if you had a candy bar business, and you caught a person jimmying your machines with a piece of wire to got free candy bars, how would you feel? Casinos provide a game that is likely not good for you. So it is "okay" to steal their money by jimmying machines. (I guess that is what you are saying, correct???). Candy bar machines provide a "game" that is absolutely no good for you. Yet you will vow that one case is robbery, and one is not! Very curious and irrational sentiments to say the least. You know, you can EASILY fully resolve your issue here -- do not go to casinos and play these games.

I don't even gamble, in fact, hate it.... and definitely hate cheaters, too. But watching this was quite a kick as the guy was giving Justice to the long standing four legged machines a much needed "Rest". Congrats to the brief shiny golden life!

Strangely enough there is never a documentary about casinos cheating on their customers. With server based gaming for instance.

I've seen them post the wrong roulette numbers on the board to catch people passing by, the see a long stream of a certain color and make a huge bet. They serve alcohol so you don't think straight, take out windows and clocks so you don't pay attention to the time. Even the machines are not fairly randomized. If they think they can get away with outright cheating you, they will. If you start winning much money, then they don't want your business.

these videos are crazy!

They fined every casino in Mississippi 250 thousand dollars when they found chips in the machines that made them pay out a smaller percentage than the laws allowed. The fines combined, totaled close to a billion dollars. This wasn't just a few casinos, it was every casino in the state. People say casinos don't cheat because they'll lose their gaming license? Not one of the casinos lost their gaming license. That 250 thousand dollar fine was a drop in the bucket to the millions they made cheating people and stealing their money. It's nice to see someone like this guy getting some revenge against the casinos and beating them at their own game.

Allowing gambling to take place in casinos where all forms of betting are rigged in favour of the owners is a criminal offence, legal or not. It is a blotch on the moral integrity of an entire nation.
