This movie "Teesri Manzil" is one of the finest crime thriller of that era, great performance by Shammi kapoor and Aasha Parekh. And that drummer guy is Salim Khan from the script writer duo Salim Javed. Writers of Sholey, Deewar, Zanjeer, this movie and what not! All epic and cult dialogues are their creations.

Sung by Rafi Sahab who actually was a pioneer in the world of playback singing. He defined the nuances of playback singing and created a template which is followed till date.

I loooovveee these old movies, they had interesting story and presentation. And HELEN...u would think she is just acting as cabaret dancer but her presence in the movie made sure crowd will come.

That brought a huge huge smile to my face..In fact it was like impudent grin..How can one every forget Shammi Kapoor and his playback singer Mohammed Rafi.. I hope you react to some more Shammi Kapoor/Mohammed Rafi songs

Shammi Kapoor and Mohd Rafi has the best collection of songs.. my favorite is Akele akele kaha jaa rahe ho and Badan pe sitare lapete huey.

The subtitles aren't good. But then, some things are deeply culture-specific and just can't be translated into English. For example, "Mehfil, mehfil ai shama, phirti ho kahan" is translated as 'from crowd to crowd like a candle, where do you roam around". That's just weird, and wrong. A 'mehfil' is not exactly a 'crowd'. It is a gathering of people, typically for a cultural event such as a dance show or singing session. In this instance, the mehfil being referred to is a 'mushaira' - a recitatation of urdu couplets. This becomes clear from the reference to 'Shama'. 'Shama' is not a 'candle'. It is a lamp that is passed around from poet to poet during a mushaira, when it's their turn to recite a couplet. 'Shama' is also a popular girls name in India and Pakistan, especially among Muslim. So the line "Mehfil, mehfil ai shama, phirti ho kahan" makes sense, only if you're aware of this context.

Nepotism aside, What I love about the Kapoors is that you can see the passion for their craft in their entire being. Like this family's entire existence is for the sole purpose of performance art.

Not really They're revolutionary but every other big music director was revolutionary. Also in terms of being revolutionary, Naushad is way ahead everyone. He literally presented most classic songs in modern style and made everyone like it instead of making classic modern mixes.

@@shubhendranathsingh9888 exactly. There were so many magnificent music directors especially in the decade before and after the 60s era. Even today we have many music directors and song composers who are amazing but they can't put out good original music because bollywood only wants garbage apparently. The sad thing is these composers can STILL create magical songs, but they aren't given the opportunity. Nowadays they're all running after likes and views - that's why they limit themselves to catchy songs but most of these songs will not stand the test of time, unlike bollywood oldies of the 60s-80s
