    I liked ur recipe and i don’t know why everyone’s being overly critical. Variety wise u can add tomatoes / egg/ sprouts but point to the fact that the best foods are the simplest. If I can make one suggestion (after watching Gordon ramsays version) and I normally never watched his recipes, to the suggestion of detail and taste you could state what bread u used (I’m sure sour dough vs something else would affect taste. As well as exact spice u used. Since vervana has more than blend. Which would impact ur taste and recipe. At the least as an example and can be altered based on one’s taste and ingredients that they already may have.

  • @scottallen8950

    @scottallen8950

    Thanks for the feedback and suggestions. You're right that I didn't go into much detail mainly because it was just a video for a small group of people, not really intended for a general youtube audience. I think the most important concept is that you can make a great avocado toast with just some high-quality simple ingredients. I only use the seeds once in a while now and always experimenting with new toppings. Lately, I'm into chili or truffle oil. Adds a lovely taste.

  • @ammararana

    @ammararana

    I totally get what ur saying. I just like to know what ingredients or even products people use so I can find alternatives for them. Since we only can see via a video. Ex. Makeup tutorials even tho technique is the key that makes or breaks the artists application. But since we’re not in person- a list of products is also imperative so I can go in person check the products and see alternative options for either what I already have and what was the deal breaker in those ingredients that makes or breaks the look. ) so in terms of this just specifying what bread, what actual seeds - like vervana has a Mexican blend and Italian- that alone can mess up the taste If u don’t get the right one, or which ever u used, specificity of bread.. wheat vs sourdough etc.) maybe even quality of olive oil. Just those things that you used without knowing what exactly you used - someone using a recipe, can jeopardize the taste following vague instructions. Anyway ur version and Ramsay’s were very very the same which when he stated the ingredients made more sense as to like what seasonings u used.. and the way u cooked the bread as well. So that’s basically what I’m saying in terms of just listing what u use and then the way u make it. Anyway it was still amazing none the less. Ur obviously on to something great. So kind of understanding the ingredients helps a ton. Anyway can’t wait to make it myself and ofcourse yours looks great.

  • @scottallen8950

    @scottallen8950

    @@ammararana Absolutely, great comment and makes sense. The blend I use is the Italian blend. In terms of the bread, that's a tough one because I use a sourdough from a local bakery. and they vary. I'm constantly trying many different types of bread. The one suggestion I have is to find one that I would consider "hearty," so homemade at a bakery rather than mass-produced at the grocery store. Then I just slice it thinly and put it in the toaster. I think with avocado toast, the actual choice is not that important, it's sort of getting the whole concept with the avocado and making it chunky with lots of and a little bit of salt. I make it almost every day and many times I don't use seeds, or sometimes I'll just add some red pepper. And if I run out of bakery bread I'll use a piece of wheat bread from the grocery store and it'll be fine, not as delicious as artisan homemade bread but still satisfying. Finding a good consistent source of avocados seems to be the biggest challenge. I live in a large city so I have a lot of resources but in other places that avocados sometimes can be disappointing. When I travel I often have this challenge.

I think the other thing is to get really good quality avocados which I'm sure are not available everywhere. I found a few shops that have them and the quality difference can be surprising. But really all you need is some lemon and salt and you're golden.

    2 жыл бұрын

    Yes, exactly. This is nothing remarkable. But I find it shocking that many places that serve avocado toast can't even prepare it like this. I was just on vacation and went to a few high-end places. One used a thick piece of bread and just a schmear of plain avocado, no salt, no lemon, not even some olive oil. I had to pay for extra avocado so the whole thing came out to like $15. I tried to show them my video but they didn't seem too interested. So yes, it's plain and simple. But that's better than what's out there. Btw, the seeds are from Vervana. The link for them is in the description. But just some salt and lemon are just fine. @@Francesca_Lettuceshreds You are certainly welcome to your opinion. But I do live in NYC. And I've ordered Avocado toast from at least 30 different restaurants, including a few that specialize in avocado foods. And honestly, I've been disappointed that so many of them try to put all kinds of elaborate toppings or add fancy things to this simple dish that end up ruining it. And then I went to a restaurant called The Smith and this is similar to how they serve it. By the way, they charge around $18 for this dish but they add some greens on top and an egg. And I honestly think this simple way of preparing it is in fact the best Avocado toast in NYC. Thank you to The Smith! If you live here and have some other suggestions I'll certainly go check them out. So I do not, in any way think I'm wasting anyone's time or misleading anyone. It's simply a matter of personal taste. Someone might think that the best avocado toast is really mushy, has lots of egg or chopped up vegetables and they are entitled to their opinion. I just want to assure you that I certainly know a lot about NYC and avocado toast. I honestly think this is the best and I've had MANY people agree. But what makes it the best is not just its simplicity, but also a good quality bread, a perfectly ripe avocado, and wonderful olive oil.
