I think he downloaded it from tower hobbies just hit the sort button and it will eventually come up like his did the download to SD card then put in your nx 8 or ?

I think a high level overview of the entire menu of NX transmitter would be great. That would be a great tutorial and allow us a great overview of the menu.

I cant begin to tell you how aggravated I am with my new NX8 and the lack of tech support for Spektrum products. If their goal was to make these products as difficult as possible to use, then they have succeeded beautifully. Something as simple as an update can take days, even if you can figure it out at all. I know when I buy a 400 dollar product I want to have to wade through piles of registration, get put on a mailing list, and still not be able to get the thing to work. Thanks again, Spektrum. I will think long and hard before considering buying any more of your products.

@@SpektrumRCvideos Ya I agree that it should not be this difficult. I tried for an hour last night to update my new NX8 and finally gave up in frustration. I got the Tx registered and then connected to my wifi, but then I could never get it to check for updates. It just kept going in circles saying "connecting". Luckily my wife is an IT person and also found a video that said it was also possible to update by USB or SD card. FINALLY got this thing updated this morning using the USB cable and MicroSD card with 54 minutes on the Tx counter to do this alone. I sincerely hope you have tech support available by telephone like FUTABA does, and friendly people who are willing to walk you through any problems. The only reason I purchased this new NX8 is to fly a new Turbo Timber Evolution BNF airplane. If things don't start going better I will go with my original idea: scrap the "smart" electronics and install a FUTABA receiver and forget Spektrum like it was a bad dream.

Maybe I got lucky. I set mine up with the president of my RC Club. Other than trying to key in my password into the transmitter for the update it was fairly painless.

Recently purchased the NX6, the video was short and sweet although I had to pause a couple a few times to proceed to ea next step. Was able to follow along and import the pre-set AeroScout👍 much appreciated.

When I add the Aeroscout BNF, why doesn't it import all the SAFE features on the correct switches?

I these guys that do these videos. They must make the assumption we all are experts or very experienced at what ever it is he is talking about. I am so new at this RC thing all I know very little about is RTF. Radios, transmitters, receivers, expo's, telemetry etc. is a foreign language to me. Would somebody like to take the time to tell me where I can go and have somebody "SLOWLY" explain to me what all this is and "SLOWLY" explain how to make it all work or even better to go around all this non-sense and just make something fly without crashing into the ground. Thank you ..........god oh mighty!

If I use the BNF set up can I go in and make adjustments, like all dual rates on one switch?

Love the idea about the templates and bnf set models that is awesome to know and I just put the NX10 on preorder..why go small when you go big and get the best one coming..great great feature!!

I did try a bnf template for the aeroscout but as mine was rtf I never got the motor to run. I switched to a safe select template and it worked. Just trying to figure how to change the preset rates. I'd also like to change it to 1 switch.

Okay, I loaded the template but how do you bind it to the plane? Am I missing something here or is that on another video? Thanks

Is there a way to make the serial port work with a tactic anylink 2? It’s the version that’s powered by it’s own lipo so the fact that the NX8 serial port is non powered shouldn’t be a problem. I have several TX-R models from them and some are almost impossible to change the rx out without major surgery.

I'll be adding the Turbo Timber preset to my NX6. Will the Safe select be complete and assigned to switch already and will the Rate switch bw pre assigned with 100% for high rate and 70% for Low rate? I asked because my Turbo Timber is delivering end of week, and I loaded my Apprentice STS RTF in the NX last week and all good except the safe seemed to be either on or off, no intermiediate and could not find the rate switch anywhere. I'm a total newbie to RC airplanes!

Hi Pork chop! Yup it will all be setup for you with the preset. You will need to do the hold stick and flip the switch thing ;) Should be on the A or B switch. On your apprentice you might need to make sure that the Safe channel is assigned to the correct switch (B) Otherwise I know that particular model, with its SAFE+ features, it can be a bit confusing to tell which mode you are in because it has a function that essentially forces it into beginner mode when it is below a certain height. Hope that helps!

Please help me the eflite t28 trogan is not on the BNF planes on the NX transmitter and I don’t know how to program it. Please help me

Here's my question: I bought a Crescendo Evolution Plug and Play because I wanted to add my own, unlocked A637T receiver and take advantage of the vario in the unlocked version (as opposed to the locked version that came with the BNF version of that aircraft). Can I use the BnF presets in the NX series to automatically set up the radio AND do the forward program the receiver so that it identical to the BnF version? I ask this, because I find the forward programming of SAFE, flight modes and AF3X a little confusing at times.

The preset will get you started BUT you will likely have to adjust reversing. The preset is not going to program the AR637T unfortunately SO you will need to setup the receiver from scratch.

The eflite F4u-4 corsair 1.2m is not in that list why?

Is there a video for adjusting the throttle tension on the NX10? I've turned the Lower Right for Tension, and neither direction seems to make any difference in the throttle.

@@DonTimmons-kh4dz I know someone who accidentally double assigned the preset throttle cut with his as3x cause he didn't know where the template assigned it. He switched on his as3x , the throttle cut and his plane started falling out of the sky. Thankfully he quickly shut off as3x and his prop started again. That's why now I don't trust that preprogrammed model features

Yep the part numbers on planes are impossible to figure out. I just started selecting random models to find my plane because it tells you AFTER you select it

Hello Tom, just got a NX10. I watched your register, update, bnf and templates. New to Spektrum, a little intimitading. I think I set throttle cut ok by the manual. Guess I am ready to bind the Viper 90 to the NX10. How do I do it? Manual not clear to me, not seeing one of your videos on that. Thanks.

I have an nx10 and a eflite ec1500 and I really am stumped on how to put the cargo door on a different channel from the safe switch is it possible to make a video if binding and setup of the ec1500 from beginning to end ???

Which receiver is in your EC1500?

When I follow your video for my NX6 to try and download a pre-loaded BNF plane, it doesn't show me the model numbers... It makes me choose "E-Flite" or one of the other brands, and my T-28 isn't even listed.... this thing is frustrating!!!!!

So am I understanding that if you import a BNF file that it does not program the settings for the AR636A for AS3X abs SAFE and only sets up the airframe?

Settings wise the Habu STS is very basic, use the model preset for the Apprentice STS and you will be good to go. They are exactly the same. The model file is available if you feel like transferring it FYI.

Why is there no audio events setup in the UMX Turbo Timber BNF template?

There’s no audio in any of the templates. Kind of useless in my opinion. Just setup some planes on an NX10 and found the same thing. Mentioned it on rcgroups and they didn’t seem to get it or think we needed voice! A Spektrum rep. Said a future’merge’ option is possible. Where you make your own template with switches/voices where and how you like then import the bnf and merge. Sounds good to me. And logical

Ya Im with Dan on the confusion. Can you explain again using a plane we can view to help demonstrate. i am considering upgrading because my dx6e is acting up after a quick dip in the lake

The part number normally starts with a EFL or BLH or HBZ depending on brand. You will see it listed in the manual, the box and on the models web page.

Tom Does it make all switch assignments as well? And what is auto config?

Yes it does, these assignments match the suggestions made in the manual for the BNF model that you are using the setup for. Auto-config will automatically detect what telemetry sensors are being used and setup those sensors (before you would have to go into the telemetry menu and assign these) That said it is important to go into the telemetry menu and setup the warnings per your own preferences.

Where can I find a list of the bnf models that are compatible?

Hi! That file has not made its way on to production units unfortunately, that being said, the 330 S file is nearly exactly the same setup and will work for the 360 3S. Hope that helps!

I just bought an nx8 and a carbon cub s2 bnf. Do I use the carbon cub s plus template? I don't see a carbon cub s2 listed in the bnf section of adding a plane on the nx8. I have successfully bound my nx8 to the carbon cub s2 using the s plus template and it seems fine but I haven't flown yet. Should I be OK with this?

The AR6610T will work well. If you want Safe and AS3X stabilization go with the AR637T

Try either a different SD card OR put the files you wish to transfer on to the NX8 via the USB function.

Unfortunately my NX8 doesn’t have templates for UMX Radian 😩

NX8 Transmitter I did a bind to the Blade 120 S2 and got this message with the transmitter : NX8 warnings: rx 4.1V esc: 4.3v 10.8A 400.6F Is this an issue? What does it mean.

Go to the telemetry menu and change RX Volt warning parameter to 3.4v or lower. that should do the trick :)

Only problem I have is I can download a SPM file from the site but it requires an rsm

When I select a BNF then will SAFE be setup? I used the AcroBNF to setup my UMX A-10. When I change switch "B" it tells me what mode it's in. When I use the BNF procedure to setup UMX Pitts it does not.

Hi Greg, it more depends on the model itself. The switches will be assigned to the correct channel BUT if the model is a "safe select" model then you will still need to assign the desired switch. Follow the instructions in the manual of that plane to do so.

@@SpektrumRCvideos I think I figured it out. I can use a BNF model but it does not have the audio alerts setup the same as the AcroSAFE.nsbm and I will have to then enable Safe Select via forward programming or the old method (depending on rx). The BNF model sets the rates and etc to the "C" switch to what the model manual says. The Acro model sets each individual channel rates on separate switches but does not provide values - perhaps because for Acrobatic maneuvers you want more control over each control surface versus one switch that controls ail/rud/elev. So while the AcroSAFE is working for the models I have used it on, it's a little more advanced than I need AND I will have to program the rates myself. I will setup the BNF model for my UMX A-10 Thunderbolt II using the BNF Model and then see if I can figure out how to add the voice. I want it to say "Beginner, Intermediate, Expert" and "High Rates, Mid Rates, Low Rates"

Can you tell me why the nx6 will not import my models from my sd card. When i hit import model from the transfer sd card menu, it goes to select file menu and the models are not there. Just 2 folders called back?? I know my files are on the card.

Hi James, a few suggestions... Try another SD card / see if you can export to the card / make sure you are putting the files on the root directory for the card / OR you can even transfer the files to the internal memory of the NX6 via your computer and import from there. Hope one of those suggestions helps!

Very easy - Go to System Setup / Yes / then "Aircraft Type" / then "Next" /scroll down to "Select Image". Choose "Standard Image" then scroll to picture you want and click scroll wheel.

I purchased an HBZ4480 Sport Cub S BNF. When I attempt to use BNF within my new NX6, it is not listed. Is it possible to download a BNF configuration for my plane?

@@SpektrumRCvideos I don't think it is as simple as that. There is still some programming to do in order to get flight mode and panic button to work. Flight mode (beg/int/adv) is GEAR and should be connected to one of your three-way switches (I used D). The panic button (AUX 1) should be programmed to the Bind button (I) and reversed in the servo set-up (otherwise it would be activated all the time). The manual says to set the dual rates at 100% HIGH and 70% LOW, but I am not sure how to do it. I am new to this hobby and it is frustrating that an entry level plane like the Sport Cub S2 is not pre-loaded in the BNF list. Maybe you could add it in a future update for others trying to enter the hobby.

Could you please also include how NX6 seventh channel controls AS3X gyro functions?

Go to Frame Rate menu, set to 11ms and rebind to receiver. IF the rx is a slow speed RX it will force the bind into 22ms mode. These are commonly found on UMX planes and older receivers.

Will this become a download for the DX radio's.

Something you said is not true. Spektrum does NOT have every E-flite Bind n Fly model on a preloaded on the NX6. The E-Flite Erratix is missing and this plane is everyone's new favorite!

How does a person rename a Model setup?

Hey Tom, Just got my NX10 and something odd is happening. I loaded a couple of the BNF models from the list and they work fine. I was trying different things with the transmitter and I deleted those 2 models through the normal procedure to delete and they were gone. later when I reloaded those models from the BNF list the transmitter set up 2 copies of each plane. I tried to delete 1 copy and they both disappeared. So reloaded again and now there are 3 copies of the models. I have the latest update and did a factory reset but could not resolve the problem. Any Ideas?

Yes Tom their preset but I crashed the 230s. Because the gear /b had to be changed to f mode I thought bnf means I don't have to change anything or program I can't take that risk with 330s . I know learn the radio but they bind and fly feature should be easy just a click & fly but I crashed right of the bat .

Yeah that is the setup for the 230 S, not the 230 S smart, which is not preinstalled in the TX yet :(

How do u duplicate a model

Lots of BNF not on here. I've got a Carbon Cub S2 and a Sport Cub S2 and neither are on there, rtf versions that I want to move over to a better transmitter. The old CC S+ is but that has different electronics as I understand it. For a newbie the manual doesn't really tell me what enough of those options in the menus mean so this is not the easy time I was hoping for, particularly with these trainer planes.

@@SpektrumRCvideos I have the same problem. Got my NX8 today and updated to last firmware (by USB, Wifi is not working... ; also a little bit scared about the naming "NX8 v3.04.01 PUBLIC BETA"). But no template for Carbon Cub S2, Sport Cub S2 and also Blade 120 S2! I'm really getting angry after waiting a long time for delivery of NX8, update/registration issue and now finding out non of my (new) BNF models is listed! I had no doubt that especially the Carbon Cub S2 would be listed. In the the video you say "we have preloaded every single BNF Model to your NX Transmitter" ;-) Hopefully I will get my models now working with safe function...

Agreed. Just bought a NX10 and am trying to find the UMX Turbo Timber EFLU6950 BNF model. Not there. Any way to download from the web somewhere? I'm just returning to RC after a 13yr hiatus. It feels like I got out during the rotary phone era and am returning in the smartphone era. All of these smart TXs, RXs, ESCs, chargers ect are making me feel dumb..

Very seriously thinking I made a mistake on my NX8 purchase. I have had absolutely no luck getting the AS3X/ safe on a switch. If I do... I can't turn it off. Or has motor reverse mixed in with the switch. Crashed the T.T. evolution learning that the hard way.

Absolutely! Create them and export the the templates folder and now they will show up when you select templates

Bring it down to the first user level. How do you make a template that has all the same timers, switches, expos, voice commands, that you can use on multiple planes going forward

Create the template on a "dummy" model, then export it to the internal memory. User the USB connection function to move the template you created to the "templates" folder and you are good to go. Hope that helps! But this might be a good quick hit video to do! :)

Sorry but I’m confused, I thought the difference between the “presets” and “templates” is that presets have all the switches already assigned, and if in templates, you would assign the switches to what you want. I ask this because when you showed us the difference, I didn’t see any difference, you never assigned any switches while you were in the templates mode. Sorry if I didn’t understand the full grasp of the difference. Thanks.

Hi! The presets are presets for BNF models, same settings as suggested in the manual for those models. The Templates preloaded do have switches and basic settings setup BUT the beauty of Templates is creating your own :) Essentially create a model, keeping in mind that you are going to export as a specific template, such as a 3D template like I mention in the video. Hope that helps clear it up! That being said I may go ahead and do a basic model setup and Export template video in the near future if people need more help :) Thanks for watching!

This is bull! Same fricken model as you. Totally different layout. This rookie hates Spektrum already. Feel like selling my TT evo before i even get it. It's not even in my list of planes. WTH! I've done the firmware update. Nothing!

Kinda not much to learn here...

Spektrum has to have the most user hostile programming on the planet. The manual is highly inaccurate and nearly useless; and those are its good points. What ever happened to simple, intuitive menus? If you find a menu that works; it's through pure chance!
