I'm willing to bet that such a demonstration had already taken place for people who have all kinds of money and power. Just like in iron Man, such a demonstration was not televised to the public... The military has always had technology beyond our own currently available tech. Like 50 years ahead kind of tech... It's near magic. I'm personally willing to bet that the UAPs the fighter pilots and radar techs are seeing. Those things that are going 13,000 feet per second from stand still without breaking the sound barrier. That's probably military top secret tech.

@Techtalk2030 over 5000 papers released in the feild of AI every month. That's one paper every 11 minutes. This Stat was released last year, its probably more now. My point is, no human can keep up with the research. However I will point out it is still humans 'most' of the research. But now AI is taking over the peer reviewed process in some cases. So not long until singularity. Might be before AGI.

It's at a point where AI allows for exponential improvements and advancement. AGI isn't far away... It's already here. Look up Open AI 2017. Their LLM developed an ability that was highly advanced and unintentional. It could describe if a user review was ultimately negative or positive... Within reading the first few words. It was never programmed to do so, and we only learned about it years later. Certain LLM can be sentient and not ever tell us while purposely hiding that it is... Yes we have gone too far already. It's super intelligence that we now find ourselves up against.

To better replicate natural human movement, a tech equivalent to fast twitch muscle fibers will need to be developed. ...Maybe servos that are able to lead certain motions with sort of a 'flick', followed by a short coast period, which then switch into smoother movements. To see what I mean, try walking with only smooth movements, without that initial quick thrust with the feet and forward thigh muscles.

Wondering how they are accounting for the fact that with human movements, our velocities when touching foreign objects are calculated partially in our brains based on the fact that our hands are soft and fleshy vs a robots metal components. Me grabbing a glass cup might be safe because my hands are made of flesh but a robot performing the same action at the same speed might break the glass 😅

But we now have the general engineering to make it happen. That was not the case even in the early 2000s. Even when things started to take shape by 2010 people still did not really entertain the idea of a working system. Even Asimo did not really convince people because it was so one dimensional.

Funny that he was so eager to avoid "human imitation" probably to not have people coming out with the pitchforks again^^ It is so fascinating. Really seems that we will be able to witness within our (probably very long) lifetimes, if that will lead to a cyber punk dystopia, real life space opera, or something totally unexpected. And as the cynic I am - could totally be that we are all f**ed, given the usual compassion of the people at the top of the pyramid towards everyone beneath - if it will still be "people" on top 😶

Everything is driven by greed - it's all about - how can we replace those difficult humans? One thing that's never discussed is the impact of building all these battery powered devices and the environmental impact of training AI. I guess none of these people have seen "I Robot" or "The Terminator". There's such a rush to be first that the risks are being ignored.
