NV4500 Broken 3rd Gear Teardown!
Today we have a Dodge NV4500 teardown due to a broken 3rd gear, which is sadly all to common with this otherwise awesome transmission. We run through the teardown and see what we can find, including a bunch of teeth in the bottom! Please Like, comment, and subscribe!

Thank you Andrew!!! You are giving very good info on manual transmission builds love the content!! Come on everybody subscribe!!!
Thank you !!! your video was very informative and you spoke clearly and no long waits you got right to the problem
So interesting, good info, please drop the vertical filming, this isn't tictoc! 😊
Love the content! Do you guys remove and install transmissions or just build transmissions?

We can do removal and installs if it’s required, we just try to mainly do carry out
One day I’ll have my g56 overhauled by LRG. Any chance you could do an assembly video on a g56?

I’d definitely like to make more G56 content, but we just don’t see them come through as often. 5-to-1 to nv5600s and 4500s.
What size bearing puller are you using to putt that 3,4 hub assembly
Will u sell me that main shaft? If it’s a 23 spline? I seem not to be able to find them online atm 😅 😢 I’m over here crying listing to the “another main shaft to throw away” 😂
Horsepower rating on ur nv4500 ?

These transmissions have no strength upgrades in gear teeth. So any shop's "rating" is purely a guess and a marketing gimmick. They can live at 550wHP driven sensibly and be healthy (mine was at 550, and was in for about 20k miles with no issues or weird wear). However abuse, like clutch dump burnouts can destroy one with stock horsepower in short order.

@@wyattl341 Would you rebuild a 4500 or just swap in a g56 or a 5600 ? My truck is at 522hp and 1250ft pounds right now. Transmission isn't happy lol

@@user-ho1lz4jg8t depends on what you use it for, working a 6 speed is better for sure, but both the 5600 and especially the g56 are a lot more expensive parts wise. I swapped a 5600 into mine and like it a lot more. After being inside of a lot of other shops "builds" LRG is by far the most thorough and comprehensive builds by far.

@@wyattl341 What do you think about superstick? My brother in law has they're g56 and is always bragging about it lol I'm on the fence about it, I have no core for a 6 speed and would need to buy another 1600 dollar clutch 🤷

@@user-ho1lz4jg8t I'll admit I'm biased as I started LRG with Andrew. I stepped away and Andrew took over the business mainly because my day job as an engineer took priority. However LRG has been into upwards of a dozen Superstick builds, both nv5600s and g56's and every single one had reused bearings and synchros. And not like one or two reused, I'm talking like you were lucky to have one or two new bearings or synchros put in place. Also endplay was all over the place and generally wildly out of spec.
