Nursing a Classic Range Rover V8 to Life - Ian from RPI Engineering MAKES IT RUN!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Yes todays video is a maintenance video on our classic MK1 Range Rover V8.
After spending month on this beast and not being able to get it to run I’ve finally given up and turned to my good friend Ian from RPI Engineering to help nurse it back to health and to make it run again.

Have to show it more if you get it sorted or are able to get it sorted and on the road and through the MOT. Would love to see that and it’ll be a great thing to see!

Pretty rad having this running. What does it need now to get it running better? Was it running a cylinder down? Spark? Fuel?

I was so happy mate! Been year years since it’s seen light outside of the barn and had a proper run as such. It needs a proper full run somewhere to clear it out and hopefully it’ll run less Smokey. So the whole time I was trying to get it to run for some months haha the fuel pump (brand new that I installed) was running backwards……. Yep. So I could hear it running so I never thought that was an issue because it’s new haha My next checks myself would have been fuel getting through to the rail and maybe with some more time I would have got it haha (I normally would anyway) but this stumped me and I wasn’t think straight when working on it myself. Anyways Ian (in vid) checked and noticed it, the plug position can only go one way so it must have been wiring wrong out of the factory …. Yep it happens 🤦‍♂️ So yeah fired it up and then it just had poor ignition, rotor cap and rotor later plus some magnacor leads (and it needed these) it fired on all 8 and sounded sweet. So in short no fuel getting to the plugs at first then overall poor weakish ignition. Lots of good things were changed and it’s made all the world of difference. Clean and time and see what happens on an MOT test. Thanks for watching bud, sorry for the huge reply lol

Thanks fella! I can’t wait to at least drive it a good bit. Plan is to sell it as we will never use it enough and we don’t have enough time for all these cars.

Please Less of your uninformed waffle and more from the experts who know them please. Good to see the Classic running but Jesus it’s a smoker…. Maybe the rings ? Or was fogging oil used in the bores? At any rate don’t burn it, spend the money and get it going properly and bring it back. These are worth a lot now as classics in their own right.

😂 It hasn’t been run properly for a while so may just need a run out! That’s the plan anyway, clean up and MOT and it’s likely to be sold. No fogging oil has been used it had been running for years but it’s been laid up for 3-4 years+ We’ll see time will tell, we’ll give it a run first and see what’s what.
