I love how the track attracts every car guy from the one with a old Civic with aftermarket parts from ebay to the brand new track focused BMW M4s and everything in between

I have been there many times and without track experience its a very gnarly place. Do remember that you wont have 'normal' insurance. Although its a public road, the insurance part is a difficult thing. Insurance wont pay for damages to the track or closure of the track. Also if you end up in a bender and hit a really expensive car, it will be a 50/50 blame, which means if you hit a porsche gt3 its gonna be expensive on your part. In the Netherlands there are trackdays too. You can pick up some experience there much more easily. I do get the appeal of the nürburgring but its really dangerous, so please keep that in mind. I loved the upload though, just like the other stuff you post!

I swear I will go there one day, I know the track very well from thousands of hours on it on simulators like Assetto Corsa and other games over the past 25 years from Gran Turismo 2 to 5 and Forza Motorsport 2 to 7. I practice on it, tune all my cars on it, & race it for fun, only thing left is to go irl.

Haven't been since 2011. Was there in 2009 for the first time, then 2010. Some years I went twice as I enjoyed it so much. Not sure if I'll ever go back as it's quite a drive from the North of England but never say never. My first ever lap was more to get a feel for the track & calm my excitement at being there, steady as she goes, even though I knew the track layout like the back of my hand from driving sims. The difference is immediate as the elevation changes are much greater than you realise which added so much more enjoyment for me "re" learning the track. Plus the fact you're usually driving your pride & joy you are very much aware of your surroundings & the element of risk helped hold back my childish needs to go faster & faster - at first 🤣 I think I got the most out of the car I had at the time (with my talent) as the last several laps I ever did were exactly the same time to the second - yes, you should never time yourself as that leads to silly mistakes & lack of concentration on the important part, the driving. I have a much faster car nowadays & to be totally honest, I think I'd rather drive a slower one around it & take a passenger ride in a faster one - much safer for all concerned including my car.

This track, even if you watched a lot of videos and played some racing games, once you're in a real car with "something at stake" (at least your dignity and your car), it will be something different entirely. It probably takes a couple dozen laps to have some confidence, and maybe 100+ laps to learn it inside-out. So i understand anyone that drives like they have cartons of eggs loaded in the trunk for the first couple laps.

I did it on a motorbike a long time ago. Once and never again, I was so scared. I had done a few (2) track days on Assen before, but that's nothing compared to the Ring, especially because they let all sorts of vehicles on the track at the same time: (super)sportscars, fast cars, normal cars, vans, bikes, everything. That's actually the most scary part. Btw, did you watch some of those Nürburgring fails videos before you went?

Nice Video and you have done pretty good for a first lap. First laps should be like this, fast enough to have fun but slow enough to watch your mirrors and see faster cars approaching and make space for them. But you're wrong on the Ring Freaks. Ring Freaks is a car rental company so the drivers are all kind of people just renting a modified car for the track. The cars are great though because they have been modified to fit different classes of the NLS regulations Oc there are drivers from time to time which know what tehy are doing, but I would say 90% are on their "first time experience" in those cars. And lots of them are not as reasonable on their first lasp as you are. They fly of the track, miss corners and are driving in the way of much faster cars, which could be realy dangerous. Everyone driving thee should understand you could crash no matter how good you are. People with a lot more experience tha I have on the track kee saying: It's not the question if you gonna crash, the question is when. So everyone who drives this track should be aware of that, always! No matter how good you are or think you are driving. So if you want to drive more often and realy wnat to drive faster, don't use your daily driven car.

Just from watching the video, it should be pretty clear you need some experience with this track to actually go fast. Definitely not the place to go flat out the first time you go there.
