Even today, reservation populations are essentially second-class vassal states within the larger country. You're correct that including Native tribes/nations/etc into a greater whole would be ideal, but at this point it's going to get a LOT of push back. Look at Oklahoma, where the tribes actually forced the government to finally honor a few pieces of the current binding treaty, and people from both parties came unglued.

I am very happy your bringing more attention to this story. I work for Catholic Cemeteries within an archdiocese of Canada and have many Catholic families including aboriginal ones tell me how embarrassed they felt when the Catholic Church and the pope apologized constantly for an entire year for something that obviously did not happen. The media will never apologize or update the public on the results of official investigations on the 3 "mass grave" locations. I sadly still see people driving around with orange bumper stickers referring to the mass murdered children or something.

It's ok for churches to burn and lies to be spoken so long as its "cool" with the "natives", I'm so glad I got this info quick fast and in a hurry. Who's to say your wife isn't lying for sympathy? Lemme guess "she wouldn't do that, I've known her forever, she's always been honest with me." Lol😂😂 to which I riposte "how many times do we have to teach you this lesson old man?" Does it lessen the sting of her mistreatment if you knew her relatives ate people at one point? No? So we SHOULDNT punish the current populace for the former's actions? I'm by no means a fan of catholicism, nor Canada, but even I roll my eyes at all of this madness. Am I in favor of folks being abused? No of course not. No one reasonable soul is. But I DO realize it happens everyday in every corner of the globe. I'm not gonna pretend the west is somehow singularly guilty of punishing "the natives" when in reality no human is in the place their race or species was birthed. The American natives slaughtered a race of albino giants supposedly when they settled here. Which is worse, getting abused, or getting a genocide slapped onto your people? Which one is easier to "push through" and survive? Find me a group of people that were NEVER enslaved, abused, mistreated or manipulated into acquiescence. I won't hold my breath.

Catholics, like me, were fed lots of road apples through the media and by the infiltrator teachers at Catholic schools who were as Catholic as Uncle Joe Stalin. I am very sorry for you. Yes, everyone should be aware that most people of any race will attack someone else from another group. It is how humans are wired. One of my big issues with the Left - along with starvation, economy wrecking, genocide against minority groups and dissenters (it is okay when Commies do it for some reason) - is how they deny agency to non-Whites and women. Non-white/non-Euro people can be every bit as nasty as anyone else. My Dad always said, "Most people are both 'sheeple' and assholes, it's the few that aren't who'll be your friends. Don't worry about the ones who hate you but go the extra mile for the ones who love you." I've lived by that maxim. I have an Amer-Indian couple in my area who swear by what is effectively an anti-White and anti-Catholic blood libel......when I've brought up the fact that A) while abuse was certainly there, there is no evidence that there were mass graves and B) there was also child abuse at convent schools in (then) majority white Catholic countries and areas and why don't they condemn THAT abuse too, they - I kid you not - say "meh!" Yes, you read that right, they both said "meh!" Sadly, most people are only interested in power for their in-group, VERY few people of any race are moralists on principle. Horrible to realize but it is reality. Find the few people that are genuinely moral and hold onto them for they are special.

They taught me in highschool about the unmarked residential school graves. Guess I shouldn't be surprised about that being a lie as well. It always stood out to me how they treated residential schools as if they were the worst thing in the world but somehow expected us to fully trust public schooling when it was doing much of the same. I guess in that case the graves made for a convenient lie as to say "See residential schools were much worse they actually killed people and therefore any and all comparisons between us and them should be discarded because we don't do that"

I'm from Kamloops, nobody who I knew growing up EVER suggested that the old Orchard is where there was bodies.. There a Tuberculosis Asylum called Padova City.. it had a crematorium.. that's where the bodies went and that was the story since the 70's 80's 90's it's only when outsider activist Natives got involved did there suddenly become a declaration of mass graves. I live with the Haida now.

You know what the saddest part is? It never occurred to ANYONE that mass graves do not necessarily imply mass killings, and in fact would more logically be the result of the EXTREMELY HIGH INFANT AND CHILD MORTALITY RATE during the main era these schools operated (the Victorian era to the 1950s). Most residential schools were founded in the midst of the Victorian era, where it was extremely common for children of any race or background (even middle class Europeans) to die before reaching adulthood. The Victorian life expectancy was actually so low not because it was impossible to live past middle age, but because life expectancy is based on averages and on average, many children would die before the age of 10 of childhood diseases. This was not due to systemic eradication, but due to the simple fact that things we take for granted today like hospitals, medicine, sewer systems, sanitation, and sterile drinking water were inadequate to nonexistent at the start of this era. Even until the 1950s many children would still suffer and die from polio.

yeah its becoming increasingly apparent that large media companies should be held more legally liable for the damage caused by their reporting. gotta be real careful with the laws to make sure you don't turn all media into state media but yeah there probably should be some measures in place to punish an increasingly common behavior found amongst the media.

I worked next to a reserve, the week after the big BC mass grave story broke, someone from the reserve was in our store talking about it. Their take on it? They had family who lived next to the one found. It was known by the locals and the cemetery taken care of by family of the children who died during a pandemic back then. Unlike recent pandemics, ones back in the 60's actually killed people and was devastating. It's also kind of sad that the Church was attacked, while at the same time, Indigenous have given full control of their daily lives to the government. Entire people groups were cut off during Covid, by the government, for their "safety." You can't make it up. While rioting about the government destroying their lives, they were cutting themselves off from the world and relying totally on the government
