Damn. I remember this tutorial blowing my mind in 2014 when I was learning Nuke. Feels like yesterday, but I've been working in the industry for 5 years now.

To copy, just hold and drag with shift the menu animation icon (the "N" bezier) to the menu animation of the select track.

Does it have to be projected since it's already in 3d space? Or no?

If you had the 3d point cloud, can't you use that to mask out the blood?

  • @SenecaVFX

You could render out the point cloud and use that as a mask. The problem with that is that the point cloud may not be sharp enough to get a perfect mask. The points render out as little squares, so it would really depend on how dense the point cloud is, and how detailed your mask has to be.

First of all thanks for the tutorial. When I apply the Reconcile XY output to the Tracker Node, the transform tab (of the tracker) translate, scale, rotate and the center x and y dont appear in blue like the tutorial...(25:19min)... the values of that are 0... :( what am I doing wrong? thanks in advance

You need to copy the values from the Reconcile3D node and paste them into the tracks.

I thought the whole purpose of the 3d point cloud was to not have to mask everything..

+blackmagic x Where I find the Point Cloud most helpful is so that I know where things are in 3D space. It's just as important to know where an object is in 3D space as it is having an accurate camera track. Without one, the other is almost useless.

Actually, thinking of it,, what was the purpose of the point cloud in this tutorial?

The point in using the Point Cloud Generator is to understand where objects are in the scene. When you do a 3D track, knowing where to put your objects is important, if placed incorrectly they will appear to slide. You can use the Point Cloud Generator to find out where your objects are and to place your 3D elements accurately.
